This was the best picture I could take. Let you know what the dealer says......

Come on!! This #*$&@ isn`t suppose to happening to a Yamaha engine! Its not a 2-stroke ,its a Yamaha! Sad to see that the quality is so bad now on this engine ,shame on you Yamaha :(

Even Yamaha two strokes were better! haha.

I remember the 98 SRX getting every single crank replaced. Many other hiccups. But Yamaha has always stood by their engines. Have no doubt they will this time again.

Did any of these rods end up in the Vector engines (sorry if this has already been discussed). Probably not as much of a concern there if they did but just curious.

Lets not get carried away. Man this is getting blown WAY out of proportion. They have a problem, give them a chance to address it.
I was just joking. However they were very strong engines. I hope Yamaha stands by their product, like they have with everything else that doesnt have an Arctic Cat sticker on it...

With the post from Hurricane about not all the rods being bad you wonder if they have already caught it and are letting the weak ones flush themselves out.

That would be standard business practice for most manufactures if a limited number of units were affected.

If this is correct its not a limited number we are talking about. The YXZ 1000R are having the same issues. Most likely the change is made somewhere in the Viper models. If this is correct that is. One dealer have opened many many engines with different build dates to convert them back to 15 spec. And they are all the same `week` rods...

To save the reputation of this engine,Yamaha have to come out with some information about the rod situation .! Not Hurricane ore dealers but YAMAHA!!!!
This tread was started 29nov! and NOT a single word from Yamaha about this rod problems!!

Yamaha has responded saying they don't have problems with rods, it's the boost situation.................
