I didn't post this to complain, I posted with my experience so others know what to look for.
I am thankful for the knock protection and limp mode for saving my engine.
If this was a viper or nytro with a add on turbo I would be looking at burnt pistons and block.
I don't think this is an issue with the Viper or Nytro motors. I have a Viper running 700hp and never had an issue with the water pump.

Ya my nytro has 20,000 miles on it and no water pump issues. But without the safeties on the sidewinder this would have ended up as a blown motor.

Yea no complaining! Don’t be negative about paying mucho $$$$$$ and having issues like this..........that would be wrong!
Never heard of A Nytro busting a water pump impeller? They do shut down when overheating tho.
China is sneaky, the parts have a good appearance nowadays but they substitute cheap plastics and steel to save money.
Hey do any of you guys know why the Corona Virus won’t last very long?

Everything changed the year they sourced to China, was it the 16 Viper that had rod issues? Non heat treated rods as I recall. From that point forward! Same with the Winder primary POS drive clutch! China crap!
I'm going to have ask my budd this weekend on his thoughts to build us a billet water pump setup and sell them, I bet he'll be game.

So the knock light was the first warning/safety measure? A testament that every winder should be tuned!

Have there been failures on non tuned sleds?
Will have to look at flow logic, but curious if the higher hp tunes are exposing the impeller to hotter coolant that fatigues the impeller integrity. If flow direction sends the “hot” exit coolant though pump then this could be possible. If pump sees the chilled return coolant then this theory is not viable.

Coolant flows into the water pump from the exchanger, so probably not the issue

My buddies water pump failed on him. His Sidewinder is bone stock from day one.Have there been failures on non tuned sleds?

Looks heavy, is it more parasitic to turn this one over the factory plastic one. No one can afford to lose power/speed.
