***2010 Yama-bashing***
I must say I'm a little disapointed. Like KnappAttak I also heard some rumblings that a "new cool performance sled" was basically ready to go this year. And in my travels over the last year I heard something "economy wise" changed and Yamaha was going conservative for its 2010 model year. Obviously not a popular decision with everyone. I can see both sides of the debate. Even if I didn't buy one next year, certainly it would've looked cool on my computer screen. (Hey there just isn't that much porn out there I haven't seen) Now if what I'm saying is accurate above, and I have no way of knowing if I'm right or wrong. You should probably prepare yourself for the fact that if the economy doesn't get better this year and infact if things get even worse, maybe we don't see anything radically new for 2011 either.
I'm thinking Yamaha cleaned out alot of leftover inventory this year and judging by the retail prices for 2010 I think alot of dealers probably won't order up to their allocation #'s. Maybe (again this is only speculation on my part) Yamaha is looking at 2010 as one of 3 things- either a low profit year, a break even year, or even a slight loss year. Yamaha might be the only manufactuer in a position to do this....Arctic Cat and Polaris I doubt have this luxury. So if the economy is for crap and the other manufacturers try to keep their production #'s up what do you think is going to happen to their dealer network? I can see those guys screaming like an elephant just worked them over from behind. I don't think the # of people ticked off on the web about a 2010 Apex replacement is a accurate % of what the snowmobile market is doing across North America the last couple of years.
And another thing to think about---The other Manufacturers as of today and even a month from now, have NOT passed Yamaha by. Oh and our all ready #1 resale values I'm thinking should get a small boost or at least not fall as much as the other guys.

This hurts to say this but the dealers are having enough trouble selling sleds as it is now. They could careless about resale if people are not trading in sleds to buy new ones then how do they survive?

Chris,
Yes it was.
You pretty much told us on the blog a month or so back there would not be much new so I was surprised there was as much new as there is. Not sure why everyone is so wound up. The economy is a mess and everyone has to pull in their horns some.
My dissapointment is the Apex did not get the updated rear suspension like the Vector. I assume it is because it is planned as a 1 year holdover for the Apex at this point and Mother Yam did not want to make the change for just one year. Comment?
However, based on your informal drag race video on the YMCA site, I probably should go with the Vector GT anyhow for near the same power as the Apex , the lower COG/better handling and way better fuel mileage than I get on the Apex.
I've got the SC RX1 for short mile play days with the BoyZ anyhow. [and they don't have a prayer.] LOL
You decide yet on what you are going to ride next year?

I hope your right and that Yamaha has something all ready to go. Just remeber what happened to Polaris when they were content to just ride with BNG. They lost huge market share and still have not been able to recover. The snowmobile business requires change to even maintain share. I'm still worried that Yamaha is going to fall into this trap.

Hey Dave, the Apex was supposed to get the mono 2 setup but something changed closer to pre-production. There were a few misunderstandings this year. We lost a key planning guy at factory and the communication was poor for a while but we're getting back on track now... I am thinking I'll try a VectorGT next year as well but I may just stay with the Apex, If I had a project sled with boost then my decision would be easy... Vector and a toy to make all the smelly sleds load up and go away... might have to go visit G-force again

My 07 Attack looking good in fact looks a lot like black Apex 2010ltxgt. Yam has the Apex & Vector figured out & many happy customers. FI 120 will be big hit with Vector riders & nice color choices. All Corps back loading Q3 & Q4 numbers hoping with a pray that consumers will spend with stimulas money. Sled companies would be smart to revive Fall selling season. No too many going to spend in current economic environment. I'm not surprised that 2010 line up was conservative but solid ...Yam not going to spend big bucks on recalls with this solid lineup. Only threat is doo 4tek Turbo if released. Can AC even make it thru the year with tight credit. I would not bet on it. Yam is the correct choice for staying power with quality product.

With BRP closing plants for weeks and job cutting they won't have any new sled to offer. New 1200 turbo and 800 E-tech...not a chance for 2010.

Cat, doo, and Polaris all release their 2010 model line up in a few weeks.
I highly doubt the rush will be the only new sled from those 3 companies. As a matter of fact I think Polaris will have at least 1 other new sled for 2010 besides the rush.
