Just wondering who is satisfied with the HP on their Apex/Attat/RTX. If your not, what HP range would you like to see Yamaha take their muscle sled to? I for one would like to see it in the 170/180 range.

I've been thinking alot about this topic. I think 165+ anyway. The new 4 valve R1 motor and a weight reduction of 50 lbs. FX-1???????? Please Yamaha give us a new HP giant next year.

You would think they could make the hp equal to the bike motor, but they should be better with the straight exhaust design and if they used the new R-1's variable intake design, they'd have a winner!
Love my Apex but always want more. Coming off a turbo sled, you get just addicted to all that power. That said, i would love to see the 180 HP that the R1 street bike has in a sled...BBY

apex needs about 10mph more on the top end..
I would like to see a 165-180hp sled..
If yamaha wants market share.. they need the fastest sled out of the box..

165 or more in the current chassis would be hard to beat by a stock sled. Although I must say that it would be exciting, I am not sure I actually need to go ~130 actual MPH on a sled.
This thread has me thinking, are we expecting the Apex to be replaced in 09 by a 4 place 150+ HP NYTRO FX chassis? I know I'll miss rear seat storage and I prefer the look of the Apex to the FX Nytro.

I really hope they dont change the apex much. I would like to see the 09 i little bit lighter with new wheels, a new ski design, 170+ hp, and better fuel economy. For me that would be the perfect sled! I love everything about my apex and if they go in the same direction with it as they did the nytro, then I will be keeping it for a long time! As for the Apex having the same hp as the bike, I think the bike makes it's hp with Ram Air and we all know from the viper that Ram Air doesn't work on a sled. I would REALLY like to see Yamaha come up with a completely new drive system that eliminates the need for the chaincase. If they could make a drive system that allowed 20- 30% more power to get to the ground then this is all they would have to do to the apex. It would be lighter and 30-45 more hp would be a tthe track which would make it by far that fastest sled in production with the genesis 150 engine. Only time will tell!

Well even if they do have more hp they wont go that much faster top end stock. My SRX with 140 hp is probably close to the Apex GT on top end. Its just the Apex GT is a better tranfering skid, so it gets there sooner.
They really need to make the front end float better so they should add some girth to the ski but add it to the inside of the ski so it doesnt affect overall width of the sled.

I don't think you will see 180, but 165 for sure and about 50lbs lighter would be nice.
