I LOVE it ! My adjustment on the Singleshot is 115 p.s.i. now. Going back up to 120 or 125. Fronts are at 40 p.s.i. I think it is the greatest.
I have to add more idler wheels, 1.75 Backcountry X is hard on slides.

Rear of sled picked up. Wipe the snow off the valve cover cap. Unscrew it. Screw pump on then adjust. Adjusting has never been easier on any sled ever until now. One shock, no spanner wrenches. It is the most !!!

Being that the operating range on the rear shock is 150-300 psi. How much sag do you have at 115 psi?
The rear shock part numbers for the Vector X-TX and Apex X-TX are the same.
I am running 210 psi and if I go softer the ride gets worse. I am 200 lbs with riding gear on.

My neighbor just put his 2016 up for sale, can't get it adjusted, either to soft bottoming out or to hard beating him up. been to dealer 3 or 4 times. He said Yamaha rep called him and said they are working on a fix for this but won't get it this year anymore. he had a 2014 apex and wishes he kept it. he has about 2200 miles on it and said he for sure won't be on it next year. yami losing a good customer, he buys new every two years and has been on Yamaha for last 8 years. My opinion is get rid of those air shocks. It will be interesting what yami does, he was at a doo dealer looking at a 1200 last week

What fix can be made...we had this discussion after 3 days on the hill....which was mostly good but deteriorated fast Saturday with some unfriendly-to-yamaha rollers. I was riding my son in laws zx chassis with the outer track belt ripping off...he rode my apex since he hasn't ridden at all this year and I wanted him to have fun instead of nursing a sled for the last 70 miles....know what? I pinned that thing few miles from the trucks, and could get maybe 75mph with the track banging and left them in the dust as the old sc10 2 never bottomed, launched and slamming into them or flying into to the big g out....and the vectors, my apex, nytros were piling in hard, as is tradition, so they had to slow...plus, I love a challenge. .lol....point is, after all these years...how to keep the soft falling rate ride but resist the hard bottoming. I've been trying to improve for years and think the hygear setup for the mono will be the best solution short of putting another brands suspension in. They should have been able to figure this out...some of us want it all...nice ride but no spine breakers when we want to ride hard. They have the nice ride part down, but need an engineered solution to solve it for us guys that refuse to get passed even when the trail turns horrible. And....listen...a few pounds weight savings???? On these sleds? Forget the marketing weight crap...off road racing trucks in the desert don't have to bottom out... if they need a few extra pounds to do it right...do it!! 10 pounds weight savings means nothing if it can't do the job. I used to buy new every few years, but why bother...my 06 works better than some of the new ideas....but my seat is getting soft...lol.

The wife and I put on 800 miles this week in the UP. She drove her new Vector X-TX with the singleshot and never complained once about the ride. She now has 1400 miles on it. She loves it. We took a day earlier this winter and went out just to set up the ride for her. We took the time to set it up and it rides great! I followed her thru some of the junk trails and it handles it well.

I agree with my Apex XTX. It definitely took some time to set up, but I think I found the sweet spot at 175psi. I can understand people's frustrations as its finicky, but I was able to find a good set up.The wife and I put on 800 miles this week in the UP. I have no idea what psi the shocks were at on the demo I rode in the UP but I thought it stunk. Especially after just getting off my friends 2011 XTX. These skids sound pretty finicky with these shocks. Also I spoke with Nick Keller who is now sporting a brand new Vector with the SS skid. He said he's tried all sorts of settings and would rather ride his old 2010 with 100,000 miles on it. Pretty sad, Yamaha has a heck of a time with suspensions. I'd fire some people. Sorry for being blunt but I'd be real PO'd if I bought one of these.

This may sound crazy but has anyone played with track tension on this skid? If this skid moves like the ZX2 from AD boivin then a track that is too tight greatly effects the ride of the skid. The rear wheel moves back on some skids, tightening the track the farther it strokes. The track tightens too far upon compression making it seem like it is stiff, then releases upon rebound making the rebound far too quick. It in effect acts like a giant rubber band. I had to run my track pretty loose on that skid to get it to move freely.
Just a thought.

A little off topic but does the Vector have the "drone" noise at low speed like the Apex? The wife and I put on 800 miles this week in the UP. I don't have an Apex so I have no comparison on the "drone". I will say that the extrovert drivers with a fully clipped track create some noise when just cruising.

I like to run my track looser than factory spec. I'll compress the rear suspension and see how it effects track tension.

Funny you mansion that I loosened my track up a lot, it was over tight and now the sled rides a lot better. I would say 50% better I thought I was maybe crazy.I like to run my track looser than factory spec. I'll compress the rear suspension and see how it effects track tension.

I didn't notice any change in track tension as I compressed the rear suspension.
