For an 80hp shot of NOS what type of fuel do you recommend???

Glad to hear Larry's motor is good. Last time I saw him Run it was popping like mad.

at least 104 octane, i will have close to that this season, and have an extra fuel tank with 110 for the nos draw. the sled tank will have preimum. man people no need to draw out the daggers, save it for the snow. we'll have to have a nos off at a ty ride the year. i'll show up!!! :nos

oh....i know of 2 lake racers that run 100+ horse kits that run lower octane, but they have messed with head gastkets. just fyi. junkie

I had an 05 RX-1 with the Boondocker 50hp setup and filters. I had a pressure guage on the bottle and no heater. With the bottle full it would run at 600psi and the first and second shot to the motor would work ok-good. After a couple of runs, the pressure would drop to 300-400 and the shot would be ok at best. I then ran an ARC 5lb bottle blanket with a pressure regulator and what a difference in performance. The bottle would stay at 900psi no matter how much nitrous was in the bottle and would stay there thru the run. There is no doubt that technology is making great gains with nitrous, however my experience with the Boondocker system showed me that a bottle blanket and regulator worked night and day better than without one. Hope this helps.

Larry, will be running C14 VP fuel it is a 114 octane.

Mark thanks for posting.

I guess I'm not the only one that has seen an improvement on a dry system froma bottle blanket.

Yamahajunkie - At TY rides, we don't recommend racing, as it could be a liability concern for TY members. If some people want to show their stuff, it should be at a place where there is plenty of room, and away from other TY members/trail riders. The rides are to have fun, and I am guilty of doing some trail racing, and driving out of control, and I apologize for my actions to all members. We went to Gwinn lake cause the trails were in poor shape. I will probably go to watch, but after seeing a guy loose it next to me at 126mph on Little Island Lake and have his sled disintigrate next to mine freaked me out! And to some other close calls this year, I will pass, and keep the racing at the track. I will just keep practicing my donuts and wheelies, and have a good time.

In all my years of going on these rides we have only gone to a Place to race one time and it was this year at the first Muni Ride. We trailered over to a lake in Gwinn and it was a blast. I don't remember any accident at that event.

That said there is absolutely nothing wrong with lake racing or snow dragging in a large field or on a open deserted road. It's no More dangerous to race then it is to go out and trail ride.

dirk - It didn't happen on a TY ride, it happened on the Rubbish Run, and Chase's brother-in-law went for a a$$ over tea kettle right next to me. There was nothing left to that Apex GT. This was on Sat., January 28th.

If you come to the TY ride to race you will not be allowed to join the Ride. Rides are about enjoying each others company and talking about sleds and so on....not who can get to the next stop the fastest. I do not organize any race events on a ride and if you want to go race do it with some respect to others in your own area not on a daily ride. The thing thats really a pain is like in Canada, when we hit the lake...all these so called racers blasted by everyone throwing ice and snow all over the riders that dont want to race or take that risk on a lake and THAT is not going to happen with me on a ride.

And dirk you have done this to me before cutting in front of me tossing crap on my sled....and no one likes a HOT DOG. Sometimes step back and think about how you like to be treated on a sled and do the same to your fellow rider.

:nos My rx-1 is still running great! There is nothing wrong with the motor. I set the sled up for trail w/nos and it ran great! I will be racing on the grass and we are Back In Black this year with a lot of changes. I will be running 140 hp shot with 114 oct. fuel. I have seen some dry systems at some races over the last couple of years and have not seen one that I thought performed like the wet system I have.
Does anyone know about the so called (I think) hero kit for the carbs on a 03 rx-1. I heard you have to get it from a dealer or directly from yamaha and it has new deeper float bowls and extension or something for the main jets? Oh yeah I have alot of stock rx-1 parts if anyone is looking.

carb bowls

Larry it was an update/recall for the rx1 mountain sleds.I'm not sure if there avaiulable any more.Thunder products make's a kit similar to yamaha's update.
