Hey guys, I just got my new 2 1/4" finger track today. Man it looks aggressive. I ride a lot of trails along with my mountain expeditions so I thought I'd try one this season to separate the BS from the facts. I have spoken to several highly respected guys who cut the tallest tips off of their tracks. Why do they do this?
Is it because the longest tips tend to bend over?
Is it to make the track more uniform across the tips?
Is it to shed some weight off the already heavy track?
Or is it for some other reason I have perhpas missed?
Hey powder both A and B but generally if the rubber has too much clearance though it means it can stretch at high mph and iterfere w/tunnel. also when ur racin its rotating mass in whitch there is always too much!!
recinc, you win the prize! I hadn't thought about the ballooning of the track. Yes, at high speeds (especially with extroverts and a loose track and a heavy track like this) there would be a huge tendency for the track to hit the tunnel or fron heat exchanger.
Now??? Do I cut the tips off before I install the track or wait to see if it hits? I guess I can always cut them off if I need to?
The windows are fully clipped but I see every other window has ribs running down the track clip. I have never seen this before. What's up with this? It must be to reduce the friction of the track on the hifax? Thanks for the help. Powder Blue
