The administration changed a couple of years ago and it's just been a clusterf!ck since. The club has gone from the best in the world to the worst. I should be able to attend the next club meeting and will pose the tough questions about the groomers and lack of communication. They actually have 3 groomers. One they have been cannibalizing to fix the other two. I understand that stuff breaks but a lot of it could probably be avoided with some preventive maintenance.
Heard from other members that these clowns keep asking for advice from the old administration and don't use that advice. Now a lot are saying they won't support this club next year due to this incompetence.
Now to pop some pills and see if I can get into some semblance of riding condition.

Just reloaded the map, the Osgoode trails are now showing green. Unless a miracle happened overnight, don't believe it!

Wish I had got into this sport before becoming disabled (along with impossible to survive on disability pension).... I'd have invested in a groomer myself ffs
Hmmmm.... what are these full rig grooming units that would work for our trail system actually worth ? anyone ever look into it ?

Depends on the type. Some are refitted tractors, others are purpose built. If you can drive, you could maybe get a job grooming. It's long hours and nights but it could get you on the trails, so to speak, and keep you connected to the sport.

Yeah, I decided to keep it parked for today. My body isn't as young as it used to be and recovery takes longer, LOL! Instead, I'm going to try and fit up some broken headphone speakers to work with my wireless helmet communicator. It was a cheap kit with tinny speakers but headphones would sound amazing in the helmet!

That's awesome! I spent 13 years as an aircraft technician...most of them working on the big jets( 747, MD-11, 757, 767)...most days I couldn't believe they would pay me to hang around jets all day. Not the best paying career, but a rewarding one in other ways. Not much snow here in some parts of western Alaska as well. This El Niño thing is a bummer.Yeah, a PITA given that I live like right on the trail and the only trailer I have left is my big 4 place flatbed. My older son is in North Bay with the 2 place and the other son is working so he can't go. I was thinking of trailering to North Bay to hook up with my son next weekend. He's in college studying to be an Aircraft Maintenance Tech. Apparently they have a decent amount of snow.

Update: Went out yesterday and it was like spring riding. Very mushy and slushy but decent riding. The rail bed A trails was in fantastic shape. Farmer's fields were all junk with slush, water and even bare spots, probably because they all got windswept after the storm. By the time the sun went down and temps went below freezing again, all this stuff was freezing up and making for a rough ride back home. Trails are all now yellow.

Special weather statement in effect for:
A major storm system is expected to affect Ontario Wednesday and Thursday.
- Ottawa North - Kanata - Orléans
- Ottawa South - Richmond - Metcalfe
A low pressure system developing over the Southern States will track northeast to reach Southern Ontario Wednesday and Northern Ontario Wednesday night. This storm is expected to bring rain and significant snow to some areas, along with the possibility of freezing rain.
The location of the heaviest snow and areas at risk of receiving freezing rain will depend on the track of the low, which is still uncertain at this time. Please refer to weather statements and local forecasts which will be updated with more details as the storm system evolves.
There is still hope!

Nation Valley (Winchester) just closed down their trails. They might have had less snow than the rest so the melt probably killed them. Tomorrow morning starts the next storm.

They have far more wetlands & open fields to contend with for sure.... On a side note, the OSC groomer was out last night in the Springhill Rd area. How much difference it made to frozen hard grooved trails and how far they got to grooming the rest of the system I have no idea.
I'm just hoping after this next snow event weather that I'll finally get some play time !

If they can get stuff back flat before the storm, it might make a difference.

We still don't have enough ice to pass the groomer over wet areas. I was up north during the 50 cm snowfall. Sudbury, earlton, tamagamy, and north Bay to put on some kms.
Trails are yellow here but I don't think they will be all that great.
North Bay is worth the trip up there for sure.

From what I can see from the roadsides, they've done better than I expected at flattening and cut wider to pull in a bit of snow (what there is). I think this next event will offer me a decent friday afternoon run before the next weekend snows which 'should' again allow for some decent week day running.
can't believe we're getting so much snow fall events so damn late lol !
