Why have we been foresaken?

Went out today just on the local club trails. At 12:30, trails were in decent shape with new snow coming down. The groomer did go as it was a lot smoother than last week. Pretty flat and the new snow made it nice. Had lunch in Metcalfe and looked at the weather maps, said rain should start around 2:30-3:00. Did the loop by RCR to KOC, which was in pretty good shape except for farmers fields which were wind swept and just frozen crap. Met a couple on the KOC trying to get back towards Boundary road/Vars (they were riding a Viper and Apex so had to help them!). It was around 3:00 by then and we talked about the weather, told them the rain should be starting soon. Yep, as soon as we parted, rain started. Just light at first but just when I got home around 4:00, she opened up.

Yep lots of rain tonight. Sure glad I won't be here this weekend for this crap!

Ya, I'm disappointed in the switch-over timing knowing that once again that temps wont play nice to stop the full melt :o|

Glad to hear you were at least able to get out @Mooseman , even if it was only for a short run:(

Here's hoping (yet again ), that the temp drop plays proper with the next one :dunno:

Well sh!t. Everything except Osgoode Carleton is closed (they're probably just late to do it) but Arnprior west still looks good. Could be closed as a preventive measure in the hopes of preserving what we have left. Just back to 0c and light snow now. Next week looks hopeful.

Their FB page is really active but I never go on FB. Emails are few and far between and their site is down (not like it had any useful info anyhow).

I don't care what OSC's trail status colour is after this next snow event... I'm getting some ride time in before next weeks heat wave !! Hell, right now they show red and the trails are actually in better condition than when I went out last when yellow/green/yellow.

I've been a good boy and respectfully following the status guide, BUT.. this is it, the end is too close, no big water to worry about for my zone riding and I have a brain and decent common sense, soooo fawk it... It's gonna be time to ride after this one dammit !

I hear ya. You won't do big miles if the groomer didn't pass but fluffy snow is hard to resist.

I'm shooting for Friday.. that shld be enough time for either the groomer to get out, others to cut & pack, or the crazy winds we've had this year to sweep the trails enough to rip some distance.

At this point I think I'll just be happy enough to find a few km's to rip & play ffs lol

Last snow storm it took them 2 days before the groomer even started to go out. So not before day 3-4 can all the trails be done. Sometimes I think the groomers here are also working clearing snow as day jobs which has precedence.

Compared to same area but on the Quebec side I monitored the groomer gps and they were out every night after the storm. My first year buying an Ontario pass probably my last. I'll stick to Quebec.

Wish I could get lucky on the lotto... I'd buy a fleet of groomers and OSC would be tops in our zone (like it should be ffs).

Too bad our stupid Mayor ride got cancelled... if he didnt break another hip (or his neck), maybe he'd show an interest in this recreational sport of ours and funnel some funds for local support instead of our stupid transit system that nobody out here can use or wants but still contributes to while angrily putting up with the shitty road conditions and maintenance ever since the forced amalgamation.:o|

Btw, Carleton Regional are showing yellow so I think we'll be good to go tomorrow. I'm off all week and my machine will be running non stop. Screw Osgoode. They just suck at managing our farmers fields, I mean trails.

Hey, any of you Ottawa boys want to get together for a ride this week? The first Ottawa TY ride!

If you mean good tomorrow as in groomed, think again...

Lots of snow coming will be fun tho!

Are the trails around Ottawa actually any good?
I have only done 50kms in Ottawa this year, the rest further north or Quebec
