Would you buy an all new 2014 Yamaha sled if...

I would be open for interest but dont hold your breath. They wont update what they have let alone a whole new direction....Im glad the aftermarket has fixed most issues.

I will never go back to a 2-smoke EVER! Hell, I'll never own anything but a Yamaha period! My wife rides a doo, but she had a chance to ride one for a week prior to me purchasing it for her and it fit her and she liked the 600 2-smoke. A happy wife means great days on trails!! I guarantee this will be the last smoker when we get rid of it!!

Same here, I'd be very interested in a Yammi 2 Stroke engine. Not that I believe we'll ever see it, but I just prefer a lightweight, manueverable sled for off trail. Heavy sleds just don't work for me in that regard, and i'm not convinced they can lighten the 4 strokes enough to make a 4 stroke work.

But as stated, we'll never see a Yamaha 2 stroke engine in a Yamaha snowmobile. Maybe AC or some other brand, but not in a Yamaha branded sled.

It's too bad really -- the liberals in Washington have made emmissions so tough that it's hard to find a reliable, but also good performing off trail sled. Heck, the last good 2 stroke engine is the 800 in the Cats right now, and not for much longer.

Oh well.

Yamaha will never build another 2-stroke sled. Even if they did you wouldn't want it. The modern EPA compliant 2-strokes are running such lean air/fuel mixtures and injecting so little oil into the bottom ends the engines don't have any longevity. Yamaha's HPDI system is complicated and they'd have the same issues the other OEM's are having with reliability. Ski-doo uses greased crank bearings, they have problems, Polaris tuned down their oil injection system and they have problems. Cat is starting to go 4-stroke and living off their emission credits to offer the 2-strokes they do. They don't have a modern fuel injection system.

At the end of the day you either choose reliability with a Yamaha or a fun, light weight sled from the competition. Just depends on what you want to do, how and where you ride and what your priorities are.
