XS 825 shakedown

Is that the most you have gotten on a belt?

well, I blew 5 in 4000kms last season! Easy math! ;)

running Dalton fly weights instead of STM60Y also. Thanks to those the same time I went to the XS825
59mm offset

Just curious why you switched from stms to dalton? And the overall outcome?

I'm currently running stms60y loaded to 74 grams on a 250hp tune and I'm trying to get my cluch temps down. I was thinking of trying dalton qay70.

the profile mostly. STM are very aggressive in comparison, so was suggested to me to try the flatter more “stock” profile. Using the 825 belt which pulls RPM, i think the QAY70 would be the right choice.
The numbers speak for themselves. Now weather it was the weights, the belt, or both... I’m not sure. But i will say I’m pretty happy to get 2800km out of a belt running this kind of horsepower!

I've been trying lots of different things. I still have hot clutches and belt.
I have a apex primary. I like alot.
I took 1.5mm of my secondary shaft to align with the hurricane alignment bar.
Stock 35 helix
Dalton black orange spring I've tried 60, 70, 80, degrees 70 seems best.
I've also tried a viper button secondary I need to test more but I felt it needs more quicker backshift.
I started using xs825 belts late last year.
I like the belt and i have yet to blow one in 400 miles (500 was my max with a 8jp) but it still gets hot. Running deep snow on rivers and powerlines, when I stop you can smell hot belt.
I have a btx with a 1.75 lug, 21 41 gears. I might try 24 50 gears to help as I have no need for super high speed.
Any suggestions on a dalton primary spring to try with QAY70s.

Agree you should run much lower gearing given your type of riding.
But what size are your drivers?

I'm using the Dalton Black/Blue Primary spring up front. I get about 3500 engagement speed with it on RX-1 primary using 15mm rollers. Tried the black/green and got 4000 and black/red was 3000. I felt the blue was the best for me and felt most natural.

I understand why they don’t give specs anymore...

I have 3 xs825 in front of me. They should be 1-13/32=35.72mm
Real world -33,80////// 34.00/////33,9o

And XS805 should be. 1-3/8=34,92mm
Real world - 36,10mm

They changed their recipes, it wasn’t like that before ...:-/.

Hello Timken quality control?

Hello Timken quality control?

Their quality control is good, but they now trim the top edge like the 01-8DN does to prevent shredding the top cog off. So a bit of the angle on top gets trimmed off. The cord width is all still right where it needs to be. Check it out here, measuring the top width means nothing like it used to on a belt, its still about the width right at the cord.

In the UP doing some riding with the heat gun. Got both clutches running 100-110 degrees. Belt is down to 140. This is really hammering it. Over a hundo for 3/4 mile this am. The orange TP at 6/3 is working well with XS. Going to 9/1 for next ride. Heat gun checks often. Cruising and hammering it. Happy trails. !!
EDIT. 9/1 is not happening. The coils start to bind on the helix hub. Twisting it pulls coils in to much at 9-1. And it’s damn near impossible to install. 6/3 it is. Right where I was all season last year with xs and 38 straight. Powertrail TD.
22 top gear. 67.1 grams on HH WEIGHTS.

Well got the rpm set where they need to be only had to empty the dtay1 with stock primary and blck/orange wrapped 6-3 belt temps are good about even for both clutches warm to hand touch get warmer if hold wide open but still can hold hand on both clutches. From dead stop or rolling 20-50 mph whack the throttle hit 9000 drop to 8800 then holds 8950 up past 110mph
