woodydog said:Rock is awesome! I started working on my girlfriends 07 Phazer and had some questions for Rock as to how to do this. I pm'd him on sunday afternoon and within an hour or so he called me up to walk me through the install. Great, Great, Great Customer Service! Thanks Rock, see you at the Milwaukee Snow Show Friday Night.

Happy to help Mike!

Rock; Thanks for the link, I remember reading that previously, but had forgotten it.
Less than 1 watt to operate....I'm no longer particularly concerned about an overloaded stator. It sure does make you wonder though why they would mess with power output to the warmers when we are talking 1 watt of power. But as you state, I'm sure it has something to do with trying to limit the load on the current stator, and then avoid the added cost of a larger output stator. In this economy they try every avenue to keep the cost down I'm sure.
As for the plug n play, answered my question there also. I'll be getting you an order soon now that all my work is done on the APEX and I can concentrate on the Vector.
The conclusion I'm drawing is, it makes little sense to spend $110 + 1 hr installation labor on a factory fix that nobody knows for sure will work, when I haven't heard one person say anything negative about your unit. (Other than a few glitches in wiring and error codes)
Thanks again.

Re: Yamaheater
There is alot of info on this early in this large thread. lol
To answer your question simply, When I designed the units I had clear objectives in mind, a couple of them being;
It couldn't risk ANY harm to the sled.
Had to be tough, and survive the enviroment of use.
Literally half of the parts in the unit are for protection.
Protection of the sled electronics and of the unit itself.
Worked very hard to think through the failure modes and make it so that a failure couldn't hurt your sled or leave you without warm hands.
Any failure will default to the warmers on High Heat or Ecu mode, yet still connected for heat.
Most of the parts are Mil-spec so that they will work at 30 below.
(If your warmers don't work at -30 it makes warmers kinda pointless. lol)
Cycled a number of the test units well over a million times wiithout failure.
(A few, I cycled over 100 million times without failure.) :exc:
We are unlikely to cycle our warmers anywhere near those number of times.
(Your controller will outlast your sled by far.)
The only failures we have seen have been production induced or infant mortality.
Both of which have been very minor, with no questions asked immediate replacement.
(I ask questions only to find out what the unit is doing, so I can eliminate any possible future isues.)
The failure rate is incredibly low, as I can count the number of bad controllers on my hand.
When I ship out your controllers or hand them to you, I am easily comfortable they will work as promised and provide almost instant Warm Hands at the push of a button for a long, long time.
Hope this helps!

Grrrrrrrrr...
The post office has today off.
Those that would have gone out today. are going out tomorrow.
We have been working hard to keep units in stock so that we can take care of you and ship immediately.
Have sold quite a bit at the shows, yet still able to ship out to you quickly, I like that!

If you don't mind me asking...how many units have you pump out so far, just curious to see how many have COLD hands that YAM keeps saying that there is no PROBLEMS with handwarmers!!!

I agree that they should work from the get-go, no question.
(Remember, I built this for myself first because I was tired of freezing!)
At the same time, I honestly love that my sled doesn't go BOOM!
If you look at it as a trade-off, it's a VERY good deal for us!
A very expensive engine that lasts and runs every trip, traded for warmers that are so-so at best.
And there is an option to fix them that works very well.
(Better than most any grips from the factory of any manufacturer currently.)
The YAMAHEATER gives you warm grips almost instantly with the simple push of your existing Blue Handlebar controls.
From idle on up.
You get heat. Period.
Have hundreds of very satisfied users.
I & hundreds of thousands of people have spent much more money than what it costs to get great warmers, every time I had to re-build the blown-up engine in my other sleds.
How many people complain about their engines blowing up & ruining their trip(s)?
I HATED that.
Yet it happens to hundreds of thousands of riders every year.
Funny how people aren't nearly as vocal about their engines blowing up and letting them down.
Think BETHEVIPER put it best...
(From page 16 of this thread.)
BETHEVIPER said:mine works like a charm, thanks alot rock, great product,
if you bitch about the warmers, you are a dumb a$$ if you dont just buy this kit. takes about 20minutes to install or less if you have your sled apart for something else.
thanks again.

Rockmeister said:This is a thread specifically about the Warm Hands Controller.
As gormleyflyer2002 dubbed it, the "YamaHeater".
Thanks dude!
This thread is to fill people in on what The Warm Hands Controller does, availability, and tech support.
(It is NOT a debate and/or complaint thread or the like.)
I and this thread are here to help you with a solid, proven, solution that works.

08nytro said:hi rock i purchased 2 yamaheaters at haydays, 1 for my Nytro, which i just installed, and working great. i started on the 07phazer but i have a black wire and black / red on the throttle side warmer and yellow/red and black/red on clutch side. You talk about releasing the black and reinserting with the yellow/red connector, but my only black is on the wrong side of the sled. Thanks Gary
Spoke with Gary Sunday, he knows exactly what he is doing.
The factory harness wires are simply too far apart to put in the same connector.
(Most come with the factory update harness that takes care of this for you.)
Made and sent him a connector to take care of it for him.
Has anyone else run into this on the Phazer? (Or any other sleds)
(If you have, please let me know what Model, Year, etc.)
Want this dialed in for you guys!
Thanks!

Rock,
Here are two pictures of how I mounted the warm hands controller on the 2007 Phazer FX.
I made an aluminum backing plate screwed it into the windshield mount with the existing bolts, I then secured it to the plate with a sheet metal screw and two zip ties.
