Just installed mine with the plug and play kit into my 08 Vector GT. Install was very simple. Bars warmed up very quick on the stand while I was runing the sled.
I am looking forward to trying them on the snow.
Thanks Rock.

Rock,
I need some help or is this normal? I was able to ride my 07 Attak for a couple quick laps around the yard. I shut the stock warmers off and the red LED comes on indicating full heat. That works fine. I then rode a few more laps and shut the yamaheater off by turning the stock heaters back on. The light turns Green. This is normal. However when I stop the sled and the sled is at idle the LED flashes GREEN AND RED. If I speed up the engine idle it goes back to green. If it goes back to idle again the LED flashes RED and GREEN. Seems like a voltage issue or something. Can you reply and let me know whats goign on or is this normal? I am leaving Sunday for Michigan and want to make sure i get the bugs out! Thanks

Hi Chris!
Yes, that is somewhat normal.
The ECU is cycling the grips between off & on so the YamaHeater responds accordingly.
The cure is to turn up your idle a bit so that the charging voltage comes up.
Warm Idle should be 1300-1500 or so.
Let us know how it goes!

Rock,
Finally got the plug and play put on my nytro today (only had it since heydays LOL). Anyway, it looks to me like when I get everything plugged in I have no choice but to leave one factory connector blank. This is one on the left side of machine (sitting on sled) and i believe has 2 black wire going into it. Is this correct????? Was I suppose to get a plug to put in it?
When plugged in any other way I would only have heat in one grip (really hot by the way) Lights all do what they should now, but cannot find anything that says I will have a end left not connected to anything.
Looks like this thing is going to be as good as everyone says. But a little nervous that I don't have it wired quite right. Let me know
Thanks.

Hi Kirk!
You move FAST! lol
Yes, you should have one connector not going to anything.
The Controller only needs one input into it, the other just leave in the rubber boot.
Just to double-check things, PM me your phone number & we can go over it.

5 minutes to reply, what kind of shoddy customer service is this LOL.
Pretty sure I have it now, but if i have any questions i will definitely send you a pm.
thanks,
Kirk
If I decide I want a plug for the empty end, could you make me one up? Let me know how much it would be.

I'm like Gerbie...
"Sneaky Fast!" lol
Can fix you up with a connector.
Not really needed, none of the factory plugs are sealed & the rubber boots do pretty well at keeping snow, etc out.
Glad you have it taken care of!
Feel free to ask any questions you may have.

Hey Rock,
I finally found some time to install one of two Yamaheaters tonight. I installed one into my Nytro. I'm now a little concern due to the fact that Kirk's empty connector is on the left side and mine is on the right (Battery side) (sitting on the sled per instructions). Everything seems to be working fine, both grips got hot within a couple minutes.
Per your instructions, I'm not sure how Kirk can have his empty connector on the left side (clutch side). Am I to assume it does not matter which side has the empty connector? Thanks Rock!

You are correct, if you follow the directions closely, you will end up with the open one on the right side.
It doesn't matter which side actually, as both connectors are the same. (Yellow/Red & Black wires)
The controller only needs one of the connectors as input.
Glad your grips are nice & toasty!
Wait until you ride it!

Hi Cmharcou, I had the same thing when I installed Yamaheater on the '09 Vector. At low idle it would go Green to Red, even with the stock grips turned on. I have a low idle condition, but I'm waiting for 1st oil change to take it in. I'm idling at about 1000 RPM's. When you rev it back up the light changes back to green with the stock grips on.cmharcou said:Rock,

This is common on carbed models, they tend to idle slower when warming up.
Also on brand new sleds, as the idle is somewhat low until the engine "loosens up".
The idle is easily adjusted, it is a dark screw between the carbs (or throttle bodies) near where the throttle cable attachs at the engine.
(It is the single LARGER screw, the smaller ones are for adjusting carb syncing.)
Anyone have a pic of this?

I've been reading a lot about these grips and they seem like a great idea. My question is to riders, are the stock heaters on the 07's any good or is this a necessary upgrade? If it is, I might better grap the remote starter while I'm at it is my thinking...what a few hundred more $$$ right? LOL

There is an INDEX on the first page of this thread with quick links here:
http://www.ty4stroke.com/viewtopic.php?t=67236
There are multiple installs with pics for you.
Hope this helps!
