Hi Larry!

You can use the Basic kit on your RX-1.
The Basic kit is basically Plug & Play on your RX-1.

All the kits & prices are here: www.yamaheater.com
Goto the order page.

Rock,

I just bought a used Yamaheater from a fellow TY'r. He had it on a Nytro. I'm putting it on my daughter's RX. All of the connections have been cut from the WHC but that's not a big deal.

Two issues:
1. The instructions call for unplugging my yellow/red on the RX and attaching it to the orange wire on the WHC. However the WHC has two orange wires. Am I suppose to connect both to the yellow/red from the sled?

2. We just put '06 Apex bars on her RX (still has the 06 connectors on the heaters - haven't cut yet). Should those be wired like the RX's were? (series - ie power to one grip, grip-to-grip, then grip to ground)?

I apologize for even asking you support questions since I didn't buy the unit new.

Thanks in advance,
Bob

p.s. I emailed you the above to "support@yamaheater.com" and got a rejection that the email couldn't be delivered. Just giving you a heads-up to a potential email problem - or maybe it was just a fluke - who knows.

Hi Bob!

Is ok dude!
Is a compliment that used older ones still work great! ;)! I Like!

The Yellow/Red wire FROM the sled goes to Yellow on your YamaHeater.
Yellow is INPUT INTO your YamaHeater.
The Orange is the OUTPUT FROM your YamaHeater.

The Orange goes TO your grips.
One Orange to each grip on the newer bars.
You also need one ground to each grip.
The new bars are wired in Parallel.
(One hot and one ground to each grip.)

She will like having Warm Hands!

Just tried the email... worked. Go figure!
Thanks for letting me know!!!

Rock :-o

Amazing reply - 17minutes after I posted, and on a Saturday. You Rock! ;-)

Follow up q...you said on the "new bars" they are parallel. Wasn't that just the '07 and newer? '06's still in series weren't they? (dropped & broke my ohmeter so I can't check the resistance but thought there was a significant diff in the 06 vs 07).

Just checking before I wire my '06 bars as parallel.

Thanks again Rock!

Good question!

That depends on WHICH '06 bars you have...
lol

Are they the early style un-heated hooked bars?
(These have a screw hole on the outside of the bend in the hook.)

Or are they the updated bars?
(The grips are one piece to the end of the hook.)

The EARLY bars are wired in Series.
The Updated and '07 on bars are wired in Parallel.

If they get too hot in YamaHeater mode (You will know), wire them in series.

Rock :-o

Early bars...screw on outside of the hook. I know from Dan's massive 2yr old thread that I could go parallel, and tell my daughter not to go past 1/2 way but I think I'll try series first and hope her hands are warm enough. If not...we'll go parallel as plan b:)

Thanks!

Hey Rock ,how are you , Glen in Bracebridge , we have 8-9 Yamaheaters in our group everyone is so happy! Thanks.

Just came in from 3 rd ride on 2011 Apex xtx , yamacharged, and it is awesome , seems you embarrased the factory enough that they finally fixed the issues , I seem to have good heat , hands and thumb !!

Thanks for that !!!! gps

I need to know what to order for a 2009 rtx se...my hands were frozen to the max in the U.P. this last weekend. I also want the easiest kit to install. Is the install pretty easy? About how long does it take? Thanks much... :drink:

You want the Plug & Play with Boost, & the ThumbBooster for your RTX.

The install is very easy!
You literally Un-plug the factory connectors & plug your YamaHeater in!
If you REALLY take your time could take you 2 hours, however, most are finished in less than an hour.

You will like being Warm! ;)!

Do you know if my bars have heat to the end/bend????? Because I sure can't feel it LOL!!!!!

Hhahahhahhaa!

I know exactly what you mean!
Your hooks ARE heated, they just don't heat up yet!

Will have you taken care of tomorrow. ;)!
Might also consider the ThumbBooster, most of the Nytros need it.

Awesome!

Just make sure there is plenty of clearance for the screws to the gas tank.
It will move around a bit in use!

Waaaaaay Cool!

Have sold some for the 2011s.
Appears most are warm, just a few aren't quite there yet.
(Kinda like the Rx-1s, most are ok, but not all of them.)

Great thing is, the 2011s don't need the Booster.

Bet you are loving the engine power & power steering!!!
