06APEXGT VS 06MACHZX

O.K.. you have me curious!! Maybe i am wrong..

Once you get the RTX clutched up to around 10,300 she pulls WAY harder than stock!

The mach must have problems like the 05s did.. because he should pull very hard past 100..

Great reviews guys.

Just did this race myself today, Apex GT vs 06 MachZ Adrenaline. Raced him four times I got him out of the hole all but once, I spun like crazy, when we got to about 80 he went by me. Both sleds have 144 studs and are totally stock. Going to need more mid range to beat these Machs.

mach 7 I didn't see the tailights to my friends mach z once the other day. He was real close but he didn't charge by me over 100.did some other testing today with him today and i brought my revs up some. you guys will be pleasantly suprised. My sons birthday party is upstairs now and if my wife catches me typing she is going to kill me......

GT with Ulmer stage 2 kit

I put 10 mile on in my friends hay field yesterday. I ran my son's 04 mxzx 800 ho and I was suprised how he would jump out first and I ran out of field to run him down. I recieved the Ulmer stage 2 kit in the mail yesterday while I was gone. I put it in this morning and back to the field today, I give the clutch kit a big thumbs up. The mid range is now amazing. For all you guys out there playing with the Mach Z's, call Allen or Gary at Ulmers it will be the best money you will spend this year. Both sleds are studded, the rev has a pipe and can and a clutch kit. It runs very well so I would not have been completely disappointed with a beating. The clutch kit from Ulmer is very easy to ride, it rips to 10,200 very fast.

Has he had all the updates done? They have some for the clutch and oil pump settings. Did the clutch kit you got hurt you out of the hole at all, or did you gain there as well as in the mid? Like I said I would get him out of the hole but when his would get to 80-90 it would go to another level.

Threw some things in the apex today that I had laying around from the rx1 in hopes of getting the revs up some and producing a slightly harder upshift. o-s-o primary spring and a silver secondary spring set at 80. I also lowered the front suspension to its min setting and dialed in slightly more transfer.Windage plates I had laying around from maxx perf were also put on to help with the high speep pumping losses. My friend left his Z as is was in our last post. Now I jump out 3 or 4 sled lengths out in front and hold my ground right thru 120 on the speedo(10200 on the tach.) My friend is more pissed than ever. Went to check his clickers but they were already set on 2. He told me his dealer did that as part of prep. Needless to say he is ordering a cudney kit next week. Are the 1.25 ripsaws slowing these Z"s some on the top end??? At least this is an apples to apples test. No 1 inch track here. I will keep you posted on our cudney vs ulmer duel when it happens since all the snow is going to melt next week.

Yamanator I almost forgot to thank you for stirring up the #*$&@ at dootalk. They are a sensitive bunch about their almighty MACHZ. Almost as sensitive as the F7 boys......

I just told it like it was really. I don't doubt that in the majority of conditions the Mach is going to take the lake. But when you look at the overall package and the fact that a 1k 4 stroke is hangin with a 1k two stroke it's pretty impressive.

Very good information.

Test results show that the APEX will hold it's ground.

We test rode these 4 stroke monsters and did a very positive report on all of the 06's we drove. They are listed in this APEX topic, and were given grade A results on most of them.

Remember, the guys from other forums are going to be pi$$ed off, and they will be trying to post arguments in this website. This was very good information, and speaks the truth from 2 users, and their race results. Just let the mods in charge of this section know if an argument starts up.

Thanks, and happy trails.

Hi welt, yes i would say that if you lose your mark as far as the clutching goes with the lack of overev that the Z has this could be the reason the apex is running w/or beating them. Now the attak will overev to unstudded on plowed hard road, yesterday it was running 11,000 and spinning so hard that i was seeing 128 speedo and 109 gps so i dont think the speedo is that far off,do any of you guys think its that far off still??? :?

They didn't change anything with the Speedo, so yeah it's probably still that far off.

Ask your buddy if the dealer performed this update.

This will see if it was performing up to par or not. Also, I wonder if the sled has made it throught the break in timing yet.[/url]

Apex GT vs 05 Mach and zr9 cat!

Just returned from a week long trip to the eastern UP. Went with 4 other guys. 2 o5 mach's and an o5 zr9 with a can. My sled only had 103 miles when starting the trip and about 650 when finished. Seemed to gain power as the miles racked up. Raced the zr9 twice 1-1. The first race I only had about 200-300 miles and the sled was still tight. Not only that but when I pulled up to race the zr from a roll, instead of my buddy nodding and taking off from a fairly even start, he just took off which left me to try and catch him. Too big of a jump for him. Then one other time the zr9 was racing another guy so I got behind him and hit the gas when he did. Stayed RIGHT on him and had to back out to keep from running into the back of him. The other even start was when I come up beside him again from a roll and was much more prepared for the start. This time the start was much closer and I walked him. When I let off and turned around he was about 3-4 sled lengths behind me. That time also had more miles racked up. About 500 and a much quicker trigger finger led my Apex GT lead the way. Raced the 05 Mach one time from a start. Was on an ice covered road with about 2-3 inches of hardpack on top. Mach had 192 studs and mine had NONE. You can imagine how that went. Got SMOKED. As soon as I hit the throttle it just sat and spun and the Mach was gone. One other time however, me and the guy on the Mach were going at it hot and heavy on the trails. Was leading coming out of a fast left hand sweeper. Backed off to let the Mach pass and he come blowing by me. Wasn't going to chase him but decided to at the last second. He had about a 7-9 sled length lead on me when I went after him. Chased him down a very long straight and was gaining. Got within about 1-2 lengths on him and was coming aroung for a pass when we both had to brake for a turn. Was showing about 110 on the speedo. On another ice covered road saw 123 on the speedo and still climbing when I back off. The two Mach's had ALOT of problems during the trip. Fouled plugs, wouldn't start etc. Both had to be towed in at least once. One had to be brought to the dealer in Curtis to get running. The other was taken home not running. My Yammie never missed a beat. In one gas comparison with the zr9 he tool 2 gallons more than me. Also got better mileage than the Mach's.

Glad to here your apex is working good,my buddie has one and he loves it except for the lack of any real top end.

I would think that these two machs you where running with, had 06 mapping installed,if that is the case I can believe you where all over them, and they fouled plugs and wouldn't start.

BUT, be very carfull about running a 05 with 05 mapping because your apex won't run with it if the guy has any clue.

This past monday my 05 mach-z with the 05 mapping and stock clutching ran 127.2 in 3000'
118.8 in 2000'
and 108.8 in 1000'

Not saying they all run this good, but don't judge them all by this one experiance.
