Under most circumstances I would say not. You can call the Gogibic Lodge or Hoop'n Holler, etc. when the ice is thick enough they put barrels out. And those two are good stops that will give you some idea. Will the ice be good on Lake Gogebic by Christmas week?

22miles long, flat & very fast. I'd give the first run across a careful one, looking for ice heaves etc. Then blast away.
Maybe Trailleader would like to run the trailboss position and take lead of a group of winders, with his Boost....straight thru to the promise land. Haha! You up for the challenge?
BTW, Trailleader, stay to the left, if you don't mind. That's generally where the slower traffic rides.

I have a zr9000 I can bring out for the winders. What are the rules?
I think they all need a bigger turbo to play with the boost in a drag race…..
Now
Lol
Our forcast looks mild also
Mid 30s through end of dec

Always drove by Lake Gogebic in the warmer months going to our family cottage in the Houghton area. I have never been up the UP in the Winter for sledding but it is on my bucket list. I will freely admit that I would not hold my SW WFO for 22 miles!!!!

Sure you got a 998 in the stable, but that's not it (I understand you're quite capable)Lol

this would be more of a durability test on the boost. Lol. It's small potatoes for a guy like you!
Rules:
We leave just north of the lodge and the last one to hoop'n holler buys. Lol.

This would be fun to get out and rip with some other tuned sleds!
Don't think the 2 stroke modded boost would make it that for at full throttle....
If he blows up and doesn't make it there then who buys?

I'll be on the sled with a windshield, mirrors, extra gas tank and saddlebags.

I agree on a group of us. Just tough on everyone to commit to a last minute date. This would be fun to get out and rip with some other tuned sleds!

Unless it was planned a little later in the season. Mid/Jan on....
Oh, and about his boost blowing a head gasket, piston, etc. well....I have a tow strap, I'll go back and get him. And I couldn't let him buy under those circumstances. I just wouldn't feel right....I got this one.
Hey, 1nc2000...where did T.L. run off to?!?! Lol.

No one would. Lol. It's a great place to test your set up, no matter the distance.Always drove by Lake Gogebic in the warmer months going to our family cottage in the Houghton area. Trail on lake can get nice and tight.
Perfect place for a get together. Once you get away from lake, big wide trails around. I like to stay about 1hr+ from lake in landolakes. It's right on the border of Wis/UP. Then just follow the snow...

Bone stock 998 might make it WFO but I don't think a tuned one would. Thermal load too much for stock cooling system. Belt temps probably get too hot too. Ask me how I know lol. Gogebic is a fun place to stretch legs on any sled.

Why you poking Josh JT?
I doubt your modded winder would go wide open up and back without blowing something up JT. I would in fact bet it wouldn't make it even one way at WFO not letting off. Only sleds I'd trust to go up and back WFO would be the old stock RX-1s and the Apex"s, maybe a stock Sidewinder or TCat. I've gone up and back before with a couple of my old RX-1's at WFO both ways never letting off during final break-in of the sleds. over 40 miles both ways in fresh snow.
Had a track come out of my old turbo RX-1 on that lake too at 135 MPH. Won't run big speeds for very long anymore because of it. In fact I dont even like the lakes, try to stay as far away from then as I can now.
