130hp phazer for 08

Yamaha has had the RX chassis (RX1, Apex, Vector) for 5 model years now. Its time for a revamp.

I don't care what they call it. A sled like that would deffinitely get peoples attention.

I started a fight with the wife last night just talking about the prospects of buying a sled that doesn't even exist yet. :drink:

I wish they would take the technological advances of the Phazer apply it to a more traditional looking sled. Yes, 130 h.p. would be great but please make it look more like an redesigned Apex more than the Phazer. I for one, as hard as I try just don't see the Phazer as an attractive sled.

Maybe it's my 40 something age but I guess I want meat and potatoes and not a snack when I buy a new sled. The Phazer (as appealing as it is in specification sheet, other than H.P) does nothing for my optical nerves.

Hey, maybe they could take a vintage yamaha design and enhance it with new technology and come out with something on the lines of the new Mustangs, Chargers and new Cameros?

Hum........... what sleds would be a good starting point?

Frostbite - from the wrong side of the tracks

Here's how I see the 2008 lineup:

Entry- Level - Phazer will remain w/enhancements over 2007 such as less vibration or whatever they decide to iron out of the 2007

Mid-Level - Vector lineup will be dropped - new sled introduced based on the vector or possibly phazer chassis though phaser chassis may be held to 2009, could be the apex chassis as well for rider forward style which would point furthur to 2009 for the phazer chassis - but fuel injected to 130hp to compete with I think cats claimed 125hp entry

Top-Line - Apex style chassis but tweaked to 160hp - they can get 10hp more out of that motor considering the 80hp figure of the phazer.

BOTTOM LINE - Yamaha has A LOT of options for new and intriguing snowmobile lineups for several years to come

yzf-R1 have 180hp and I can't figur out why they havent put this engine in the apex yet.. Maybe thats the next in the top class department.

i can't imagine releasing a 130 1 year after the 80. It wouldn't make sense.

I think we'll see something new in sno-cross in a few weeks.... :flag: that will lead to the above...

Yamaha just released a totally new R1 engine, so they were probably waiting for that to happen. From previous years, seems like they use the earlier generation R1 motorcycle engine on the new sleds, so I would expect to see the 04-06 R1 engine in a Yamaha sled soon.... ;)!

2008 - Venture lite chassis, 3 cyl, non gear reduced, EFI, 15" wide track.

Just a guess

I wonder if the bulkhead is wide enough for the triple?

Ummm, I think Yamaha can accomodate the size of the triple.

I would be VERY surprised if Yamaha started this platform design 3 or 4 years ago without the intention of making a tripple an option in the future. In todays manufacturing world, "modular" is the ten dollar word. It reduces cost and lead time.

Why would they put a tripple in a sled that is spose to be as light and in-expensive as possible??
It wouldn't make sense.
Also wouldn't make sense to drop the Vector motor either after only being released in 2005 as a brand new engine.
Maybe it will find it's way into the watercraft or something with a turbo...

Auskins, they are referring to the next step up model from the phazer... it would replace the vector or whatever is above the phazer...
