Here's the REAL DEAL. I have checked with both the Montague Inn, and The Edge Hotel on cancellation policys. At motague the person I talked to said she thought it was 7 days. The Edge is 48 hours. Both places are $89 a night + tax. I would suggest we stay at the Edge Hotel because you can cancel with only 48 hrs. notice, you get a breakfast, it is easier to get to. The down side of the edge is: sometimes a bumpy trail to get to the main part of the hill. and they get less snow then Montague. So if we plan to stay at the Edge, and the Southern Tier has Snow, we can cancel with 2 days to go and move our ride down to marathon and book last minute into the Three Bear Inn. This way you can get your deposit back from the Edge booking. The Edges web site is: www.theedgehotel.com Toll free # 1-866-348-4211. For $89 you can either get a Room with two ddouble beds or a room with a King size bed. We will keep this post going for one more week and if noone has any problems with staying at the edge,I will start a new post with all the new details. If we double up in the rooms, with tax you are looking at about $50 a night which includes breakfast. What does everyone think?

Sounds good BBW. Way to take the bull by the horns!! The Edge it is!
Although I have never stayed there, I have heard it is very nice. From what I heard, they just built or ARE building a new restaurant/bar attached to the hotel, which will be convenient for after riding dining and drinks.
Not to mention, that Stewarts convenience store is right down the road from The Edge for quick, cheap fuel fill ups on our way out/back from riding.
If everybody is in agreeance (or at least the majority, cuz ya cant make everybody happy, obviously), we can seal the times/dates and places and create a new thread with all the definite info about the NY ride.
PS. I think the Edge is a pretty popular place to stay, so probably the earlier the better in making reservations.

That does sounds like a good plan.
I asked a question earlier in this thread about other people riding with us? I have a buddy or two that ride REVs. Is that legal or is this strictly a TY thing??

2008 FxNytro. As far as I am concerned you can bring your friends who drive other makes, but you have to tow them back when they breakdown. We try to keep them mostly Yamahas beacuse the chance of our ride getting slowed down due to a breakdown is alot less if everyone is riding a Yamaha. Plus most of us meet through this site, so we all ride Yamahas. The reason we start our rides on Wed., is the trails are in alot better condition then, and there are alot less Yahoos out riding the trails on Wed. Thurs. and Friday. We throw in the weekend days for those who want to join us but can't come to Friday or Sat. Come for 1 day, 2 days, 3 days, or as many as you can. We usually start to ride about 9 AM each day. Hope to see you at the ride. Gordon

Traffic traffic traffic!! Ever been to Tug Hill or surrounding areas on a weekend? I am sure you have and know what a cluster-eff it can be Fri-Sunday trying to navigate around the Hill and avoid the weekend warriors acting like fools.
We start them mid-week, so we can get a good couple days of well-groomed trails that are not overly crowded. Besides, we do ride Fri, Sat, (and sometimes) Sunday, depending who stays around. Nothing can beat mid-week riding!
As far as other brands, I would say Yamaha only....hence, "Totallyamaha". Just my opinion though. I have been on the TY rides since 2003 and it has always been Yamaha only, as far as I know. I have friends that ride other brands but do my riding with them other times during the winter. But I guess, as always, see what the consensus says.

Geez Cribs... That should cover even the crybabies in the group or the ones who want a really cheap bed.![]()
Sounds like a good plan. I always liked the Montague myself, but with no breakfast, it always sucked staying there.
Count me in, for whatever happens. I'm putting it on the calendar at work, so it better start snowing pretty soon.
No offense to anyone's friends but I vote in favor of keeping it a Yamaha ride too. I never stayed at the Edge but it looks like as good a spot as any.

Looks like Yamaha is the sled to ride on this trip.

Think it's as good as the Lee-Hav motel in Lowville?? haha
Hey wait? $5 cribs? I CALL THE $5 CRIB!! That is a BARGAIN!!!
BBW, ya bettter not be jinxing us about "other brands breaking down". Although we have had pretty good statistics with rides without breakdowns on these TY rides but we do have our issues.

2008 FxNytro. I use over half of my vacation days in the Winter. I much rather be snowmobiling then boating in the summer or lying on some beach in 90 degree weather thinking about snowmobiling

DITTO. I also use 2/3 of my vaca time during the winter riding season. Pretty much, after this trip is set, my extended mid-week trips for the rest of winter will be spoken for. The rest will just be weekend riding. Geeeez, how life has changed since I got married and had 2 kids!!
2008FxNytro, we'll see if we can twist mine or some other TY'ers arms to do some. That is IF BBW doesnt wear us all out by the end of the day!
