Hello everyone! Quick question. Stock ripsaw track 1 1/4 inch lug. Dealer says I can not stud this track and have to buy a pre studded track. Anyone know if this is true or are they trying to sucker me into spending more money?

Just need to lower your your tunnel protectors to keep stud's from hitting exhaust. If you have an XTX all you need to do is make sure you keep the track tension to spec! XTX has more clearance. Do a search I think there was info on that in here.

pre studded is safer but if you follow the instructions on here to reinforce the tunnel protectors you will be fine. I think Port yamaha has a kit you could install call Kevin he will hook you up. when i went with prestudded it was cheaper for me than studs as I sold my new take off for about 100 bucks lees than i paid for the new track and did the labor myself.

Thanks for the info. If pre studded is safer I will probably choose that route. They told right around 1500.00 with labor ouch!. May I ask what your running your limiter strap at? Mine has 5 holes. When I looked at the sled on the show room foor it was in the first hole / loose position. When I picked it up they had it tightened all the way in hole 5

mine is in the stock fron the factory position have not touched it I would have to look at it i think it hole 3 and i like it where it is you will have alot of ski pressure with it like that it will stay planted but not have as much hole shot traction and less abillity to hop over holes in the trail as skis wont want to come off the ground as easy.

$1500 installed for a prestudded track is a rip off. That's full list plus 2-3 more hours of labor than it really should take. You can find 144" Ice Attak XTs online for under $700. The strap sucked all the way up is too much and poor dealer set up. Up 1 hole from the bottom is good, maybe 2 at the most.

I have a standard Apex 128" track I know they list for about 900.00 a couple places I checked. I did move the strap so it is 2 holes tighter than the longest position which was stock position. I know most guys say one hole tighter than stock but I went 2 and try from there

I got mine from cb at the snow show a couple years back and I wont say what i paid but he cut me an excellent deal on it give him a call and see what he can do for you. it is not hard to change just time consuming and dont forget the locktite on the axle bolt in the chain case and if you do Travis barn of parts can hook you up for a good price on a used side cover. lol yes i know this for a fact :o|
