I actually just read and article on this last night. They asked pro riders what their thoughts were and they claimed that AC new 800 is actually a better motor because they way the power is delivered. The torque curve is much better then the new 850's so it makes the sled easier to drive. They also said that AC has the most efficient drive system so that makes up for the less CC's. I have yet to ride the new AC engines so IDK how truthful this is but I have heard from a lot of people that the new AC 800 is a great engine.I can assure you there won't be a Yamaha 2 stroke sled with a junk artic cat motor in it .... the cat motor has the least power of any 2 strokes

In my opinion at some point in early 2019 Yamaha needs to release to selected dealers some 2020 prototypes. After they are pretty confident that the 2019 inventory is pretty much sold. Right now Yamaha does not have a full line of sleds and many customers are moving on. They need to let people know that new stuff is coming, and that it is worth waiting for. Or not. I guess if they are pretty much AC clones that could would not work out but who knows.

I would agree with that statement. I had some seat time on both the 2018 600 and 800 on multiple passes on the same trail as my Apex XTX. It was a great comparison of the engines mostly. As the trails were flat and fast, and you could just concentrate on really letting the engines eat all they wanted.
That 800 was what I was hoping for in the Viper. It was as if my Apex mill was in there, other than the noise. (I had mentioned this in a previous post) So that being said, I saw no reason to lust for one over my current ride. Those into 2 strokes would love the torque, as it was way smoother than similar ETEC's and Polaris mills. Honestly, this could have all been clutching for as much as I know.
The 600, seemed to have more grunt than a 600 ETEC, but similar torque of most 2 strokes. It needed to be spooled up to pull hard. It's not the sled for me, but my buddy, the owner, rode it like he stole it. And he had it dialed in after only a couple hundred miles out of the showroom. His level of confidence on that ZR, compared to his old Crossfire was amazing! AC owners will love it. Honestly, it was like a more flickable Viper (as it should, the chassis is the same)

I came of a summit 850 (17) and to a Arctic m8000 (18) last season and by using my build in powerguage (my butt) I'd say there giving you the same power to snow..
Arctic needs way more rider input summit is as smooth as butter... Might be back on a Yamaha this year but really would like to try the winder before I ride but there are NO good dealers in Sweden... Witch is a problem if you want to sell sleds...

What if its a Cat Triple?
I loved my 800 triple and my 1000 triple even more, they where monsters, then Cat dumped them and went to 800 and later 900 twins, both slower and no where as smooth as the triples! Its why I went to the RX Warrior instead of the 900 Cat, best move I made. Not only was it smoother then the twin it was also smoother then the triple! I found Yamaha! Last triple from Cat in 2001 or 2002, they said twins where the future! I rather doubt they will even build another! I did always dream of a power-valved triple with F.I. pushing 200hp! Sigh!
Well if it can please you then it should be a success right? Mark this down Sasquatch. The thing is if you listened to the talk between Yamaha and Cat! Cat clearly said Yamaha and them share four stokes and are partners, but on the two stroke side they are competitors! I would say that Cat will not let a Yamaha engine two stroke into the fold! It would be direct competition with their engines! If Yamaha wants to build a two stroke it will have to be with their own chassis not Cats!

Nope I went to four stokes! Two strokes are done for me ever since my RX!
Well if the chassis can fit a Cat Triple it should fit a 4st too. Probably not the 4cyl we want though.Nope I went to four stokes! Two strokes are done for me ever since my RX!
It will be a Yamaha chassis with a Cat 2 stroke. I heard a triple 2st.The thing is if you listened to the talk between Yamaha and Cat! It was rumored that Yamaha played a hand in the development of the Ctec but there's lots of rumors flying around in the sled world with Cat and Yamaha, I think Yamaha is getting very close to that line drawn in the sand.It will be a Yamaha chassis with a Cat 2 stroke. I heard a triple 2st.

A very well connected dealer here in New England told us that Cat is coming out with something VERY different. He did not say if Yamaha would share the same sled. Same dealer said he rode the Alpha skid in 2015.
