really? 95% of this thread is a repeat of the 2019 thread. Any thread of the future of Yamaha is dragged down the same mud hole by your posts. They say same thing over and over. Let the past go and try to have hope for the future. To continue to cry over the Yamaha/Cat merger is crying over spilt milk
We get it, you think Yamaha is only an engine supplier, you don’t want a turbo, you love the 4 cylinder, etc etc

All I have to say is 2020 is the make or break year for me. If Yamaha doesn't show something new then I'm moving on for good as sad as it is I've waited too long for them to respond too the market that I'm in(backcountry). Yes I own a 2 stroke cat right now but its the same chassis and that's why I'm still half with Yamaha and always hope for something great from them. Cat always has the tech a year before Yamaha gets it so I'm leaning towards them more and more!

The 2020 release is real...I think the the YamaKitty merge is here for a while , and is good for "yama files "as supertrax calls us . Now that there is two manufacturers splitting the cost on R&D on motors , our chances of getting Yamaha 2 stroke have gone up 10 fold ....

Until they release a 2 stroke I wont be buying another Yamaha unless its a trail sled and I don't do much trail riding. The 2020 release is real...I think the the YamaKitty merge is here for a while , and is good for "yama files "as supertrax calls us . Out here in the East, I see more and more 4 strokes. Everyone I ride with switched to 4 strokes except 1 who will only ride Polaris, and he had one of those FST turds before ordering a 850. I think the need for 2 strokes is being overstated . Not everyone is on the off trail band wagon and it is actually endangering some trails out here.

Maybe Yamaha is fine with being a niche manufacture. Maybe they dont want to build a sled for all types of riding. Does Ferrari make a minivan? Does Porsche make a entry level fuel miser? No. Maybe they dont care to be the leader in sales. Quality over quantity? Have they EVER been the market leader? In the days of the original Phazer they sold more than anyone but I believe that is it. If they make a few high performance quality models I am fine with that.
For what its worth, it seems this inventory reduction plan is working. I just searched dealer inventory for some left over Sidewinders and they are not many out there.

Imo it will be an endless wait for a Yamaha 2s. Yamaha is not in that market in snowmobiles just as Polaris is only 2s don’t want to participate in 4s sleds. It would take too much money to set up 2s Rand D then tooling to mass produce a 2s snowmobile engine. Just not going to happen especially in a shrinking market can’t establish an ROI. Difficult for me to think Yamaha would blue sticker an AC 2s in North America that would be laughable to me. Peeps can dream and want Yamaha 2s engines but that ship sailed in 2003 along with funding and support engineering. Be happy if we can get a nice Yamaha 4s replacement for the Apex and Vector in 2020.

U have to go back 3-4 years ago when Yamaha & Arctic cat were finshed developing the sidewinder, are sitting in a boardroom in Minnesota looking at the new joint sled they are going to make together. Arctic cat is finished with Suzuki, almost broke, and no real depth on making motors . They would be pushing Yamaha to build a 2 stroke because they know they can sell lots with a good motor. With the 2 strokes 2 cylinders maxing out between 850-900cc Yamaha can focus on making a killer 850 . The 600 stuff they can easily come up with a 120-125 hp motor . Arcticcat will stick with Yamaha long term because of the emissions restrictions looming going to 4 stroke s ( once trump gets the boot ... lol ) if the merger on making sleds together was terminated u would have herd about it by now

- Yamaha sr viper 15 ltx dx, mpi 190 turbo, straight line header, 38" mtx front end, mtx steering, mtx seat, xtx 141" skid and 2.25" power claw track
2019 sidewinder xtx le, sleeping for now
In my opinion all things point to Yamaha continuing the relationship with cat, I believe cat is coming out with a new chassis soon and it will have an all new Yammy 2 Stroke mill.

Really then you never read any of my posts they are embracing the merger and encouraging people to accept it. I have accepted the future of Yamaha and it includes Cat. Yes Yamaha is now an engine supplier, why this bothers you so much I don't know? I've let the old Yamaha go. I am living in the now it seems to be you are bothered by the past to the point of berating me over it, its to bad really that people can have a conversation, then you come into it and start your browbeating over it being a rehash. My advice is if you don't like the thread then don't read or post on it. Its really that easy!

Sure Yamaha has had that conversation with Cat followed by show me the money! Lol. No money no 2s easy peasy as that and AC has their own 2s 600 and 800 and not about to scrap all that R and D , tooling and then buy a 2s engine from Yamaha. Just doesn’t make financial sense especially with Textron at the wheel. Low hanging fruit to Yamaha is low volume 4s Sidewinder, Viper then start up an Apex / Vector replacement 4s sled. That is harvest time for Yamaha with a 3 year outlook.U have to go back 3-4 years ago when Yamaha & Arctic cat were finshed developing the sidewinder, are sitting in a boardroom in Minnesota looking at the new joint sled they are going to make together.
