wondering how it would fair in a sidewinder,i jumped the hell out of my winder last weekend and could not believe those QS#'s..best ever!!!!!

Single Shot, well there ya go that's Yamaha's last attempt to build a rear suspension. That's the kinda carp your gonna get if Yamaha ever goes back to building there own sleds again. All the dependability in the world is no good if you can't ride it. Say what you want, but instead of copying the other 3 manufacturers and building a decent suspension they come out with these stupid gemics to get guys to buy into it. That's why I'm glad that Yamaha and Cat are sharing the same chassis. Anybody that says the delta box chassis is even remotely close to a Pro Cross has no idea what they are missing when the trails start turning to carp at the end of the day. I guess if you have the privilege to ride trails that are 20 ft wide and 100 miles long with out a bump in them you might think the single shot isn't so bad.

Somebody gets it...

I rode my buddy's 15 Viper and Cameron's 16 XTX both on junk trails and they rode the same. Was very impressed with the SS with the updated shock on a huge whooped out trail at speed.
Lets face it, when they get real bad all sleds beat you up, hear it all the time from riders on all other brands.

No disrespect but I totally disagreed a proper set up Pro Cross will drive around any delta box single or mono shock. But hey to each there own that's what makes the world go round.

I have QS3 shocks on my rtx, and I cannot bottom them out on the soft setting. I can get playful sometimes on the trails and it sure is nice having a good shock package!

I have to wonder why Yamaha didn't put the Phazer skid in any other sled, The RTX version was far too stiff but the GT and especially the MTX/XTX versions ride like a dream in the small-medium bumps and didn't bottom out until you got into stuff that you don't want to rack up miles on anyhow. The downside, its HEAVY, as in 19# heavier than my Viper XTX skid. (My Phazer rides better than Viper XTX)

I kind of laugh when people say they can't handle the Vector ride. I (55) and my wife (51) have over 1000 miles on them this year and just got back from a trip putting 415 miles on in 3 days and we both are fine and not sore. Then you have mile record breaking Nick Keller that puts unbelievable miles on his Vectors averaging over 10,000 miles a year and I believe he is in his 60's. All my sleds are completely stock and as far as I know Nicks are mostly stock also.

Nick is a great guy and a mileage animal like no other, I have known him for quite awhile. When he got his new Vector when he retired Claudia (his old one he set the record on) it came with the Singleshot skid. He hated it so bad he had Kip's shop install the older version CK skid.

Well there you go...real world testing, in the end it is the shock package that makes the ride, most skids run on the same principal its just different brands have different set ups and some doo work better than others.

Shame on you using that bad word on this site

Very true......last season I had a 2017 Sidewinder STX-DX 137 with the basic coil over gas shocks. My friend had a same year Winder LTX-LE 137 with the QS3 shocks. We hit a really bad section of un-groomed whoops near Alstin, Michigan. My Winder felt like I was on my old Apex it kicked so hard, his went through it much, much better. It's unreal how much better those shocks are on that machine.

Well what I don't get is you probably never rode the Single shot with the upgraded shock but yet are quit the expert, than you knock a few guys for talking about some Doo features on this forum but yet your riding a Cat and are one of Cats biggest fans, maybe you should move to the Cat forum, oh yeah.. I ride pure Yamaha

My guess is he is in his 60s, if he still feels young after riding that vector that’s good. Either he needs to get the sled setup properly or needs to upgrade to newer style chassis. And yes, I think he would have less problems with a pair of new vipers. By the sounds of it he rides with his wife and probably doesn’t go very fast and rides respectively. I’ve had 3 vipers now and all have been trouble free except for the first one where a Yamaha primary bushing failed at 5000kms. Laugh all you want on your delta box
So your saying 60 is to old?

So your saying 60 is to old?
Just said he’s old, never said he was too old. Never too old for sleds. But some sleds are definitely out dated, some sleds need setting up properly, some have better shocks. And I personally think a cat chassis with a good shock package would be great for him and his wife.
