I agree with you, there is nothing wrong about talking about brand x, that is how we determine what works the best and learn what the new trend in the snowmobile industry is, a little competition is healthy in this industry that is very competitive, I enjoy listening to riders that have spent their hard earned dollars on new tech that works even if it is brand x, in this sport you have to keep a open mind, by the way Vipers and Winders are pretty much brand x too.
Not to mention several folks on here own more than one brand including some mods.

Deeppow16 I personally could care less about long track machine and there is no way I'd waste my money on one of those machines unless I lived out there. There is no need to go to the UP and ride crowded rail road grades when there are plenty of excellent groomed trails in northern wi. Trails in my neck of the woods are in great condition and great mix of trails from woods trails to lakes. My biggest problems is people are buying these mountain machines and driving them on the trails and every chance they get there going off trail and pissing off land owners and that's how trail get closed.
I agree 100 percent.

Guys, it isn't that you can't mention other brands on this site from time to time or make some comparisons. It's knowing where to draw the line and when to shutup. Clearly whitedust and a couple others can't grasp this simple concept.
If you want to discuss all brands all the time go to a site like HCS.

This is Totally Yamaha, and it is a great site when you have a problem or want to talk about Yamaha's if you want to know if the 850 is faster than the 900T go to Doo talk and ask your questions over there. If you want a Ski Doo go buy one, don't come on this site and try to justify it. I do know one thing for sure tho that 850 and 900 T(what ever one you decide is faster) has absolutely nothing for the Winder/T Cat.

I agree with you guys. I grew up riding Motocross just outside the Swamp. Maryland suburb just outside of DC. I moved to Minnesota in 89. 31 years ago I went with Cat because being an auto tech at the time I felt trailing arms belonged on a Ford Truck. Lol! I blew up my modified Cat 2 years ago and decided I was tired of working on my sled. I looked at my Wife’s Vector I bought for her because of the power steering. She has MS. And I decided to buy another one for myself. I was always impressed with my Yamaha bikes. 1975 DT400 bought new. 1979 YZ250 and RD350. When I first looked at sleds I thought Monoshock. But my idea was 2 skinny tracks. So the shock could connect at the top. Between the 2 tracks. With maybe a ski on the bottom. Between the 2 tracks. Well the Polaris Rush made me look dumb. Should have thought of that. Anyway. This is the best Snowmobile forum I have ever been on. And all comparisons should be welcome. My salesman took my advice and bought 4 Strokes. But he bought Doos. Used. But now he wants me to let him know as soon as Travis comes out with his mechanical power steering for them. PS I am pissed that I have to spend $1650.00 on 2 Hygear kits to make my Vectors ride right! I should not have to wear a kidney belt to ride these sleds. I am very disappointed in Yamahas attitude. They should step up to the plate. I bought their Yes warranty on both these machines. And they won’t do anything about it. We rode 50 miles on pristine trails last weekend and now my Wife wants me to sell them. Her Back and neck are hurting. My back hurt as well. I can set the air pressure to their specs. But there is now way it would meet their sag specs. So that is why I ripped on Jarett when he showed up on here. First time I ever bought new sleds in my life and not happy. Other than the rear suspensions. I love these sleds.

For one, it’s not jarrets fault. Two, it’s sounds like you and your wife are old, no offence. Three, buy a pair of vipers and your problems will be solved.
don’t take the the old age thing personally, I’m 35 and my wife is 28. We both ride vipers. Even on good sleds, sometimes the trails can beat you up a little. We feel it too, the next day sometimes!
I’d try convincing your wife into a pair of vipers for next season.

Vectors are one of the most reliable and dependable sleds out there, I would try getting the updated shock for your single shot skids, this shock has made a big difference on my sled and I believe we share the same skid, talk to your dealer he may be able to help you with the price or even get them replaced with the upgraded version by Yamaha.I agree with you guys. I rode Cameron's 16 XTX (Maim) with the updated shock over some very rough trails in Muni and it was super impressive! How are those single shot skids holding up?are they good with the updated shock?does it compare to the current skid?
Hoping the mods I am planning on my 11 XTX (Nytro springs, Hygear bushings, Starr kit and shock re-valve) it will get closer to his, but you can't beat an air ride. Ask Him, Smooth ride, Viper Dave and others!

My guess is he is in his 60s, if he still feels young after riding that vector that’s good. Either he needs to get the sled setup properly or needs to upgrade to newer style chassis. And yes, I think he would have less problems with a pair of new vipers. By the sounds of it he rides with his wife and probably doesn’t go very fast and rides respectively. I’ve had 3 vipers now and all have been trouble free except for the first one where a Yamaha primary bushing failed at 5000kms. Laugh all you want on your delta box

Single Shot, well there ya go that's Yamaha's last attempt to build a rear suspension. That's the kinda carp your gonna get if Yamaha ever goes back to building there own sleds again. All the dependability in the world is no good if you can't ride it. Say what you want, but instead of copying the other 3 manufacturers and building a decent suspension they come out with these stupid gemics to get guys to buy into it. That's why I'm glad that Yamaha and Cat are sharing the same chassis. Anybody that says the delta box chassis is even remotely close to a Pro Cross has no idea what they are missing when the trails start turning to carp at the end of the day. I guess if you have the privilege to ride trails that are 20 ft wide and 100 miles long with out a bump in them you might think the single shot isn't so bad.
