In Maine again for my last trip of the year.
My Winder has been good. At 2035 the belt shredded. Thr cords were actuall mostly still intact on the clutches. Stll a "belt" Had belt changer befote group came back to check on me. Clutches were not hot. Not even the primary. In retrospect I should have checked and changed the belt at lunch based on a bit of vibration. Did a good bit of hard running in several inches of fresh and a little off-trail. Tweaked something in front off trail. Left ski does not sit flat on ground. Looks like I may have bent the spindke which seems very unlikely looking at it. No clear visual sign of impacr but felt a real hard hit.
First tracks most of the day in several inches of fresh snow. FEET of snow in the Moosehead region.
0 mile 850 Backcountry needs a new brake rotor because of a loose extra bolt being left in the brake cover at the footwell. Fun sled to ride. Not slow either but not Winder fast.

2050 MILES on my Ultimax all at 270hp.
SO far so good.....I know I should change it, but seems like a quest now!

What are your thoughts on ultimax compared to 8dn or jp?
I run a cat belt on cat.(112). But I prefer a xtx5060 over it
Thanks for info

If I owned the Cat I would try the Ultimax(827) as I feel its really working well, at least with my setup on YAM clutches.
What blows me away is, the belt dust last season with 8jp was thick AFTER EACH RIDE......Where as I have NOT EVER WIPED DOWN my clutches or belly guard this season at all, and after 2000 miles, there still is NO dust, its crazy how clean the Ultimax runs. I will certainly run the Ultimax on every Winder going forward(or cat 998) whoever makes a 129", which is my biggest worry now.

Good to hear
I have 1800 on cat 112 and I ran it stock 400 miles. 280 800 miles. Just put 600 miles on 3r tune.
I haven’t tried xs827 or 829
There is belt dust from it.
Good to hear about miles getting out of these setups.
129 skid should bolt in your chassis if I remember right. That may be an option. I guess we wait and see on that yet.
Thanks for info

What year is your cat?
I bought a Ultimax 827 for my 19 and I had belt squeal and my rpm dropped 700-800. Ì put my cat 112 belt with 3000km back on and it was back to normal!!!
I contacted timken about the issue and they said i had the wrong belt and they are sending me the xs829 at no charge!!
I still think the 827 is defective I measured with calipers and it was 1/16 " narrower then my well used 112!
(Thought the only difference was the compound between the 827 and 829?)
Timken engineer said the 827 was only for the 17 cats
And 829 are for 18 and 19!!
I will see once my new belt shows up!!
I will measure both belt width and try it out!!
112 has worked really no issues!!
Sled has been tuned from new

Mine is a 19
17 to 19 center to center or clutches did not change. A lot of guys went away from 104 to 112. Sounds like a defective belt possible. A lot of guys have run the 827 by the sounds of it.
I also thought just belt compound difference between two
Good info, thanks and hope you get it fixed with new belt
