hi, have a 2006 attak found antifreeze on floor the other day back end is jacked up.can see drip comimg from rear suspension bolts just below heat exchanger. so must be leaking from near there towards back. rubber hose at back seem fine. the only other thing is a crack in heat exchanger between foot boards. how do i check this. or remove exchange thanks attack2006mb

Here's a previous topic on same issue as yours...its likely your HEAT EXCHANGERS under floor boards, you probably ride standing a lot and FLEX your running boards and this tends to make them crack at the rear suspension brackets...they can be welded, its a bit of work to get them off but doable.

Yep...both of mine were toast. Saw the coolant leaking right by where the rear pivot arm mounts to the tunnel. Appears to be a common problem if you stand and ride, as it causes the running boards to flex and eventually rub or crack.
And idea if running board stiffeners (like offered by MuffinWorks) will solve this problem?

I noticed the right one leaking on my sled when I put it away.
I can't complain, I beat the crap out of this sled in the trails.
I guess this would be my first "major" problem in 6000 miles.

My friend replaced his a year apart, very aggressive riding while standing. He welded the old exchangers and put them on the shelf as replacements.

My RX-1 heat exchanger cracked at 6-7000 miles or 10000-11000 kilometers on the left side rear skid mounting bolt. I don't believe it's the flexing of the running board that causes this, I think it's caused by the flexing of the funnel and skid that makes this happen. By looking at the position and direction of the crack my conclusion is that when the tunnel flexes the pressure around the mounting bolt rises and over time the heat exchanger encounters metal fatigue and cracks.
The exchanger can be welded by a TIG (maybe other methods as well) but it will have to be sinked into an acid bath for cleaning before welding. My local welder didn't have the acid bath at the time he tried to fix mine, and a cause of that he was not able to stop the leakage, it was better than before but not a permanent fix.
