Evening all,
I just installed my intake kit and was wondering if anyone else is using this kit on a Cat, as I noticed something that doesn't seem right.
When I get the hood on, I can't even see the intake tube and I am unsure how the cold air is going to reach it. It looks like the vents on the hood of the Viper are open to that space, but on the Cat there are no openings.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Chris

Your right. Cat hood has a narrower radiator vent. Not sure what it looks like inside but you are going to have to talk to Excell about what to do.

I have sent them a message, just waiting on a response

You still are benefiting from not getting air right behind rad. On viper there is two slots right in nose one each side. Does the ac have them? If so you could direct that air right to snorkel real easy. Been thinking of doing it my self.

I don't remember seeing those vents. I will double check when I got to the dealers this weekend.
Worst case I will order the Ulmer kit

I have one, on the Cat there is some space on the sides where the radiator grill mounts. Not sure if the Viper is more "open" at this area, but I did notice some reduction is intake air temperatures.

Do you feel that the engine is receiving adequate air even though it doesn;t have the venting the Yamaha does?

I think so, I mostly noticed a gain in mid-range throttle response.
That said, I will be trying out stringray's air box mod. Mainly because I installed a U cooler in the tunnel and eliminated the radiator. Without the radiator under the hood, the under hood temps are much lower and the coldest point to draw intake air from will be down in the nose where the stock inlet is.
