IMO, success, or lack thereof, with longevity of any studded track is usually highly dependent on how sleds gets ridden. Anyone can destroy any studded track easily by spinning at the wrong time.
Tuned, high HP doesn't necessarily equal stud destruction. I'm constantly thinking about what my track is on top of before pulling trigger.
That is definitely going to be a consideration going forward, however as Mr. Sled can attest to the studs on the sled were absolute garbage (we twisted one off at <20ft-lbs of torque). I should have pulled them off right away but thought I could run the season on them. The tear outs were from the replacement not garbage studs I put in grabbing when all the studs around them had broken off already.

Sorry, didn't mean to imply you're reckless. Just making a general opinion. That is definitely going to be a consideration going forward, however as Mr. Sled can attest to the studs on the sled were absolute garbage (we twisted one off at <20ft-lbs of torque). I've run StudBoy Prolite double backers for 3 years and have only had to replace 2 due to crack. I run StudBoy 1.62" Lake Racer (192). Only had to replace maybe 3-4 in last 2 years due to tip missing. IMO they work great.

Oh, I am most certainly reckless. No offense taken, just don't feel the level of problems I had with studs/track were entirely due to me being stupid with the happy flipper.

The more I think about this track change the more I think it would be a great time to do the Franks bearing mod at the same time. Do it all with the DMC top gear when it is brand new.
Get two birds stoned at once.

Yeah, I’ve got a DMC top gear and shift fork pads that I’ll do during the swap. The more I think about this track change the more I think it would be a great time to do the Franks bearing mod at the same time. Do it all with the DMC top gear when it is brand new.

I’m not totally sold on the driveshaft “wedge” idea yet but will probably pick some way to address the bearing while I’m in there.

You should not get birds "stoned" since that can be considered animal cruelty.
BUT if you STONE them & eat them, it's OK.

I've got 2 Apex's in my garage right now.
We start them almost every day cuz of the sound. I love in-line fours!
I'm not DOO yet.
By New Years, you'll know if i made the right choice.
Now if i can get this newbie ZIG up north, i'll show him that what's in your sack is more important then what's under the hood.
Of course i'm taking him to smaller trails since he's running WAAY more hp then me. LOL
P.S: Since ZIG is only 30 minutes away, i may stop in with some goodies and a list of DO's & DO NOT's. I have extra parts for him

I'll take all the help I can get... Appreciate everyone's help and knowledge here. Reminds me of HCS back in the early Firecat days.
