Take .060" out of the spring pocket or use one of Daltons Helix and there will be no coil bind. Coil bind was a problem with the 17" stock spring as it's longer than most springs.

Do you know how much to machine out of secondary pockets
They machined .070” from the Secondary coil pocket on mine 2 seasons back! Plus other mods of course.

Yes thanks for clarifying why that was being done back then.
When my sled was new I did try shimming the stock helix, but did not like that.
Since then I have changed from the stock 35 helix to a Dalton 35/39. So smooth and fast with the Max Spool 16 tune.
I am sure there are better clutching combinations out there. I just like the low/smooth engagement with WOT and cruising rpms where I like them, with mostly stock components.

x 2 on the low (3000)/smooth engagement for all-around normal trail riding. Stock 5000+ was too high IMO.

Bringing this back up to the top!
I currently have Stock Muffler MS16 and have been thinking of upgrading to MS17 and a stock modified exhaust to go with it. Apprehensive about noise and tickets but would make it stealth. But am now wondering if its worth the trouble and expense after reading your experience! I ride solely in QC.
you are saying not much difference between MS16 and MS17?!
