That is why you didn't see the Sonata in the driveway when you stopped over night before last. Yes, this car has had 2 major repairs done on it before this last hit. Must have a homing device for poor drivers....

You got that right!
The girl who rides with my wife to work, went to a specialist yesterday, and she has whiplash, and a series of pinched nerves in her back. Sonata gets hauled away today, and they said they might have found an exact replacement with the same miles.
Sorry to get off track, and Allen.....what is your engagement right now? 3,800?

Terry, I honestly couldn't tell you the last time I actually looked at the tach at engagement to see exactly where it's at. I believe it's right at 4000 rpm or 4100 rpm at the most. I am running fairly little heel weight and a shallower helix angles as well due to the big, heavy 15" wide track.
Another note, a few pages back Wayne was talking about what his speedo read. I can't remember when I actually even glanced at the speedo! My eyes are constantly glued to the tach and I could cut the speedo part of the gauge off and wouldn't even notice the difference! LOL!
I also weighed the sled this weekend on our race scales. 800 lbs total weight with me on the sled! That's about 50 lbs heavier than the setup I ran last year was!

This year I have a 15 x 121 track which is 53 lbs and last year I had a 10.5 x 121 track which is 33 lbs (there's 20 lbs difference). This year stock Apex seat, last year I had a low RX-1 seat (5-6 lbs difference). This year I have the stock skid which weighs 18-20 lbs more than the Wahl skid from last year as well. That right there is somewhere around 43-46 lbs difference. I've still got the spare belt, tool kit, etc on the sled this year as well! I probably weigh 5 lbs heavier than last year as well. I weighed just my leather suit, helmet, boots, gloves, etc and that was 15 lbs (didn't think all that weighed that much). LOL!

Amazing what a suspension and track can do for you.
I'm going to have to get mine weighed... cause now I'm just plain curious. Think I can take you by a couple of pounds (the wrong way unfortunately... lol).

I'll go back to this since I was called upon during the discussion.
Highest I have ever seen is 8% OD and that would be the widest and longest available belt (measure your belts when you buy them from the dealer take a cloth tape and measure the outside and a calipers and measure the width) using the same spec belts consistantly will keep you more consistant. 8% OD @ 11,200 rpm with 24/38 would be 133.2 mph so I think the MPH is believable, maybe a little constitant method of checking it, but believable.
As for the stock speedo, as I said above, I could cut mine off and not miss it! Heck, I might do it to start dropping some weight! LOL!

135 is a little bit of a guess. I have one tooth ground off the pick-up. I hit the 1/4mile trap and my speedo said 132-133 mph. My track ticket said 128 mph. (In fact, I have another ticket @127.92 mph and my speedo said 132 at the finish line). On a different run, I passed through the trap, held onto the button and throttle, I ran it up to 140 on the speedo and then let off. I just wanted to see if I could get 140 on the speedo. I'm guessing 140 on the speedo is about equal to 134 or 135 based on that.
I don't have my primary machined or anything. I do have a lot of tip weight and a custom cut helix. Also, my RPM may have been realllllly close to 11,200. My data recorder requires one full second to record max RPM.

I think the heel weight is what is killing your 60 fts., as I tried less weight, and they were all around 1.499-1.510
Have the heel set up with the tungston on 1 side, and 3 washers on the other, and my best 60 ft. was 1.410 for my weight on the attak. average 1.43-1.44's mostly.

Terry, with the 15" track and the stock skid if I add anymore heel weight it gets too aggressive, spins, and overshifts down to 9600 rpm and slowly recovers. I have 2 grams less heel weight and 3 degrees less helix angle this season with the 15" track and stock skid compared to the Wahl skid and 10.5" track last season. I'm still geared 24/38 yet right now. I plan to drop to 23/38, but didn't want to change it until I received my datalogger back so I could see exactly what was going on with the shift curve. That just came back on Monday so next time out I should get a chance to test out the 23/38 gearing combo and that should lower my 60 ft times as well.

gotcha buddy. That 15 inch wide track is a biotch to hook up with.

Hey, What's wrong with looking at the speedo...lol
My clutching is whatever Allen sent me last winter....helix, springs, weights. I installed it according to the directions that were sent. I added more tip weight to compensate for the extra N2O. I currently have In the heel the one big tungsten weight on one side, nothing in the middle, and three washers on one side of the tip. It is working great for the top rpm. I don't really have any extra components to try except for the stock helix and springs. I can also change my tip weights around but don't really know what I should do. If I add or subtract heel weight will it effect top rpm? If so, how? I honestly am very limited in how clutching works.
I'm testing friday night. I did suck the front end of my skid down so it sits perfectly flat right now. I also replaced a bunch of bad wheels. I'll know what effect the skid has after friday night.

Stoutner I wouldn't change your clutching just yet wait until you get your sskid dialed in first because your suspension can throw your clutching off.
For example if you spin and hook up and the clutches will overshift. So now your trying to adjust your clutching whick the suspension is causing the problem.See my point.
I would invest in a vdo or watch your tach the whole way down the track so you can see what the sleds doing.

I'll be watching the tach Friday night. Then, I'll have a better idea what's going on. My current Boondocker controller records max rpm only.
I think i'll see some nice improvements on my 60' times the way my skid is now....i hope so anyway.
