Maybe a little Simple Green will help. Not your belt issue, but your image on this site. I have to take a shower just looking at that secondary. LOL

That's what 5800 miles And 5 blown belts looks like. It's actually been cleaned, and has a new inner sheave and helix. Hard to scotch brite between the fins. The parts that matter are clean lol.Maybe a little Simple Green will help. Not your belt issue, but your image on this site. I have to take a shower just looking at that secondary. LOL

The good news is, your friends won't see that clutch with a "5 o'clock shadow " on it because you WON'T be opening it up this year. Just trying to breed positive vibes here...

Have we come up with a good fix for blowing belts yet? I thought my issue was fixed, but after 65 miles today it appears it is back.

What did you try previously to resolve it?

Damn, have you removed the primary spring and cycled the clutch to make sure it's free.
Also check casting on the secondary for slag.
Your belt is not sitting high in the secondary? Should be no higher then flush.

John, how have the newer 8dn belts been holding up,i have a brand new one and may give it a try some time as well, hope I don't start smoking belts to. We have 720 hard miles from last year,on stock 8jp belt, and this year I changed both springs and went back to stock 35 helix, hope it will be a good combo.Had good luck with Yamaha 8dn. last season. I have a ultimax xs to try in 8dn length. I have always been a Dayco xtx belt fan. Never tried a Ultimax

I blew 2 belts last year before 600 miles. They checked the offset and replaced my rollers with Cat rollers. I ran it for 700 miles with no issues. I go out this year after machining the spring pocket and rechecking everything and blow that third belt in 70 miles. I love the sled, but riding with my Ski Doo buddy and blowing belts hurts.
