BOP oil tank seal

I've been using the Yamabond 4 on the oil tank and haven't had a problem with it yet.

Had the dealer do a preseason check, change all the oils , grease etc...brought the sled to upstate NY and got a small ride in, when I got home there was oil on the truck bed, let the sled sit in the garage and noticed more oil on the floor. Ok, so it appears the oil tank is leaking. At no time did the sled get into temperatures that dipped below 32f, yet oil is leaking. This sled has had allot of problems with oil leaking in the past yet all services have been performed by Yamaha Certified Technicians...so the Tech's are trained. Dealer said they will take the sled back and seal the leak...great, but oil leaking is too common on this sled.
My question is, is it possible the ROV is defective and closed shut because the sled was never in a freezing temperature or is it possible the casting for the oil tank and chain case is defective? Any ideas? Joe

Get the BOP oil seal do it yourself it works, I sealed mine twice the factory way and it still leaked, last year the seal no more leaks so far one season. Did rov when I purchased in 2017.

Thanks, I have a BOP gasket and was told not to use it. After reading all the comments on this site it seems the only real answer is the BOP gasket...it's reliable.

If you search TY, there are threads on this tank leak. Some have seen tanks w porosity or tiny cracks that leak.

One full season with the BOP gasket on my 18 winder (2,500 miles) with no issues. I have a spare just in case we have a issue while on a trip for the other 6 procross sleds in the fleet.

I mentioned this before:
For guys using permatex, loctite 5900.... make sure the tank halfs are spotless and ALL OIL RESIDUE is removed. Even inside the tank, you don't want oil dripping on the freshly sealed joint from the top half when assembled and curing
If there is a drop or residue of oil that gets between the fresh adhesive and the metal it will not bond causing a potential leak.
use a lite wire brush to slightly score the matting surfaces to help with adhesion.

And follow instructions on the label of the sealant you use.
Most will have you put a bead , mate the 2 halves and just snug bolts. Then final torque after a couple hrs of curing
