Bought a BV2S helmet today

I always wonder why the "Electric shield" if never fog.

I am a sweater, I mean if we are riding hard my hair is WET, so I was thinking, if I need an electric shield anyway why not stick with the HJC old CL 12 and E shield.

? Does it fog for us sweaters?

I also noticed that it was very tight fittng, even the 3xl was tight has that changed?

Thanks for pointing that out I was looking at the adjustment knob. Well guess I know why it was $279! I'm going back against the seller to get a updated one, do you know what year of manufacture they started with the updated ones? Thanks again for helping me out before I used it!

My BV2S was manufactured 16 August 2006 and has the improvements.

My buddy picked one up on Ebay last year and it was the older style with Bombardier on it . The inside breather is the same as mine but his helmet gets snowdust on the inside of the shield somehow. I've ridden in extreme subzero temps (-30C) with no issues.

A good little tip for you BV2S guys, buy a thin shammy, then take one of your pads and lay it on the shammy. Trace the outline and hole onto your shammy, then cut it out. This way, you never need to buy new pads, just a few twists of the shammy to get rid of the moisture, and re-install. Works like a charm.

I did the same thing with my Modular1 doo helmet. Shammy works great.

Fully leather or a cheap one...

Anything thats thin will work. Dont get a real thick one.

How about the "Sham-WOW"!

Sorry couldn't help myself, actually it may work.

I was reading that some uses breast milk pads that ladies place in their bra's. Just cut them to same size and shape.

Just another option.

I use this helmet last winter and loved it. Very warm too.

If you look at the helmet from the bottom with the visor and breath guard closed you will see where the dust gets in. There is a thin gap at the front bottom where the plastic meets the chin curtain. This is the also the place where the breath guard pivots. Its a small plastic cross piece that the breath guard snaps onto.
The solution is real simple. Go to the dollar store and buy some 1" velcro strips. Run one strip across this area with the helmet closed and then trim any excess. Then open and close the breath guard a few times and trim the velcro some more if neccessary to allow unimpeded open and closing. This will block the dust from entering from the underside.
If you have a low windshield the dust from sleds ahead of you will be deflected off the windshield directly to this area.
The other solution is to always be in front.

I just bought one of these helmets today........LOVE IT so far, very warm and doesnt fog my glasses up. I was tired of wearing my snocross setup on the cold days, had to make sure everything was perfect not to freeze.

BILLY MAYS HERE!!!!!!!

This is a great thread! If I'm in the market for a helmet, I'll definitely consider this helmet!! Very good info guys!! ;)!

Do you have to run the face mask if you run an e-shield?

Also has anybody used a communicator with one of these?

Great thread guys. I bought a Modular II last season and so far it seems fine. I did notice a couple of times it appeared to get a bit of a draft in it. Haven't figured that out yet. What I'm wondering is have any of you guys gone from the Modular II to the BV2S. Is it worth my while to make the upgrade or just stick with the Mod II.
