BROKEN PRIMARY SPRINGS. Keep eye on.

maybe take the rivet out closest to the heel along with the shims...too low of engagement i feel

For normal trail riding, as long as it doesn,t bog on take-off, why not keep engagement as low as possible ?

Even then, I would think a little less initial power on take off to reduce track spin would be an advantage, as long as it doesn,t bog. I have done that for years, and it has worked great for me. I have found it kinda tough to hook up lots of power at the very start, especially with trail studs. For me, less initial track spin at the very bottom helps hook up quicker, once you are rolling.
Also works great when trying to load and unload sleds from the trailer.

If you are like SJ and my sled, a little more won't hurt since we both have aggressive studding.

I just got that same spring in with my clutch kit today from allen, along with a red secondary spring and 38 straight and new rollers, plus weights,oh ya sandale 3" flowmaster and alpha tubes and CAI oh ya evo stage 4 tune almost forgot.
Which Ulmer clutch kit?

Just had a look of my oem spring that was pulled at 300 miles and there is all kinds of rust where the paint was rubbed off the outside of the coils. TP looks like new still. Not sure if the glide washers did the trick or the shorter length

If looking to get back on the trail quickly and the dealer does not have one in stock or one they can steal. have them choose a alternate that is close. From what I have seen stock springs are on Back order and will not be available until a least the middle of March.

Ok thanks my dealer sells clutch kits they put together themselves they should have something that will get me back on the snow! If they won't warranty it I may order a thunder products kit!

Good to hear. It's all about getting the seat/riding time in when you can in such a short season.

Best of luck!!

I have had great luck with the yellow/green/yellow Yamaha spring/with glide washers.. No rubbing, TD ECO tune and Td Turbo force muffler.. 911 clutch cover

FYI. Stock primary springs are not to long and coil binding. With the clutch completely compressesed there is still a fair amount of space between the coils. Not sure what is causing the spring and spring pocket damage maybe twist bind and spring pushing out sideways when compressed.

Pics of collapsed clutch. Hope you can seen there is still space between the coils.

First thing that pops into my mind from looking at your photo is it hitting the cover? Maybe glide washers or those bearings are the only answer. As a dealer who is candid with us here what is Yamaha saying? The broken springs are adding up.
