Found on the front of my 07 Apex Attak GT, a replacement found by the previous owner when the GYTR snapped at the lower eyelet.
My ride was cut short by the other GYTR shock breaking, same place.
I'd like to get another one of these:

If at all possible. It's much more solidly built than the GYTR, and is bushed with a elastomer or rubber sleeve.
Another pic:

Not seen is the part that broke on the GYTR shock, the rod, right where it enters the lower mount/eyelet, which is almost 2x as thick.
Any help identifying this shock would be appreciated, a Canadian source would be even better!

That sucks Mike !! and on the 1st day of trails going yellow in our area too ffs... grrrrr :o|

Hope you find a solution quick and get some ride time in :sled2:

Ive seen a set of elka shocks that looked similar to that.

There's a member in the classifieds selling right side front suspension from an '07 GT in southern ON... maybe you'll get lucky at a match that will work ?

The shocks snap when the lower eye collar seizes in the bushings. Should grease them annualy.

Never saw shock like that. Is it 16.5 center to center?

THANKS for that... First tip I've had across the 3 forums I visit to tell me WHY it might have snapped. Sled was serviced bi-annually at the dealer. Must be something they don't know, but you did, hibshman25. ;)!
The unidentified shock is 15.75" center to center.

check kijiji, they have a pile of shocks for sale for your sled instead of trying to match that oddball shock. would be a lot easier or call Frank at Shock Tec in Guelph, he might have some for sale already rebuilt and ready to go. You could even try Bender Racing in Zurich, Ontario, he has a pile of shocks there as well. that's where i had bought my GYTR's 3 years ago.

if you were closer i'd sell you my GYTR's now that i found a brand new set ohlins for it

OK, thanks to a good guy on another forum, the shock has been identified.
It's from a Yamaha ATV YZ450. I can't seem to find one anywhere in Ontario, seems to be more than a few available 'stateside.
Not all the yz450s came with the ex reservoir clicker shocks, apparently.
Just for the record, this shock is MUCH tougher, better built and designed IMHO and worked fin on my Apex GT even with the GYTR shock on the other side. Sled handled fine, stock skis, Snow trackers.

glad you found out what it was, but that shock is 2" shorter then what is suppose to be on the sled, guess it wouldn't make too much of a difference. nothing wrong with the GYTR shocks, just like mentioned earlier they just need the eyes/bolts greased once in a while to keep them from seizing and snapping off. i would think that would be the case with any shock

I think it's more like .75" shorter.. I'm sure this is a bit heavier, but it's a much better design, IMHO.
I did find Frank through another forum, and a pair of rebuilt GYTRs are on their way.
Once I can get my paws on another YZ shock the GYTRs will be for sale.
