Canadian Vs. US Pricing - They've Done it again......

Have you priced the Cat sleds and stuff? Might be the same deal with them too.

yes the zr7000 is pretty much the same price as the viper. Yamaha canada has reduced the price of the viper in canada $450, due to the cat release prices. THey are comparable, just wish the cat was using Yammi clutches. I will bet you see guys going to their cat dealer for parts on these new sleds as the yammi price will be higher. You would think an item sold by popular demand would be reduced in price due to sales volume. NOt Yammi, thats opertunity to make more profit. Being a Yamaha rider and lover all my life and I'm begining to feel like a Toronto Maple Leaf fan. LOL

He basically said full synthetic wasn't worth the extra $ which would have been an extra $6. He said the semi-synthetic 0w30 is good enough - I won't see a benefit from the full synthetic. Its newer guys behind the counter and they really don't know yamaha products well plus he told me they don't sell or service many Phazers.

Something sounds fishy here imo?
Unless he is a close friend or you have been dealing with them a long time and you know each other that way, then I can't ever see a Yamaha dealer, or any other for that matter, try and sell you something that costs you less?

We will probably never find out for sure, but I have a feeliing it has something to do with like the other poster pointed out, and that Yamaha is having issues currently with it's full synthetic??

The issue with Yamaha is not just their Canadian parts prices, which are bad enough, but with their parts delivery.

We have a multi-line dealer here, Cat, Polaris and Yamaha. If you order a part for Cat, it's "3-5 days" which usually works out to a week. Order something for your Yamaha? "7-10 days" which always turns into 2 weeks.

Must be an issue with your particular dealer because it's usually 2-3 days for anything that's not back ordered. My biggest complaint is the lack of local stock on common parts like relays, solenoids and idler wheels. Only Yamaha makes the upper idlers for Phazers but they can't even keep one in stock at the dealer???

I don't think it is a dealer thing because I found the same thing with the dealer here (Arctic Cat and Yamaha) he told me they get their parts a lot faster from AC. You are in Ontario where the parts are shipped from so that is probably the difference for you.

Yep, the 7-10 day thing is standard here in Goose Bay, and the same thing in Stephenville. And while the dealer's in Stephenville are different for Cat and Yamaha, here in Goose it's the same dealer for Yamaha, Polaris and Cat.

I'm really going to try and make more and more of an effort to buy my parts online from now on though. The dealer here charges full pop on absolutely everything, and doesn't stock alot of parts. The only bad thing about ordering online is that you really need to be ordering several things at a time if you want to actually save any money, since the minimum shipping charges will kill any savings on lower priced items.

At least a week for me too as my closest dealer doesn't stock anything. If I don't put an order in on Monday its at least Friday of the next week for delivery.

I just went through trying to find a drive shaft bearing for the Phazer when the original all of a sudden grenaded itself. I did find one after calling several local dealers. The ones that didn't have it could order it and have it by the middle of next week for $30. The one that did have it charged me $40 + HST. US price online $24 and free shipping to the US.

Although this might not sound like much, just add a zero to those prices to get an idea with more expensive parts. And we're at the dealer's mercy when we need it yesterday when they (rarely) do have a part in stock.

And the funny thing, that supposed "Yamaha" original part was in an NTN box with a Yamaha sticker on it. And it's available to dealers through Kimpex for $21, the exact same one from NTN.

The diff in cost is unexplainable when there's no import from Japan involved. Free-Trade should remove price diffs between US and Canada for anything assembled in either country ... of course, the differences are seen in all facets, including automobiles and bikes.

Lots of guys were going to the US from Canada to buy Harley Davidsons (My Road King is $4000 less in the US) but Harley Davidson put a stop to it. Harley Dealers are NOT permitted to sell a bike to a Canadian now or risk loosing their dealership. Hope the Snowmobile dealers don't have the same issue cause I'd definitely go US Side to buy a new Viper for 2G less

Yamaha and Doo have those restrictions. Dunno about Poo or Cat.

They all do. They want a protected cash cow. Same for ford etc. Gotta have a us resident purchase and buy it used off them. Doable just gotta find someone to buy for you then you buy off them.

One of the biggest reasons is, us CDN's just take it :o|

Seen a show on W5 once about gas price differences and in it, the spokesperson for said company said exactly that, that CDN's are not vocal enough so they can get away with charging us more :o|

I get my parts over night, as long as I order by 11 am. Yamaha Canada ships purolator, so it's not the delivery service. It's your dealer waiting to have a big enough order to place, so they don;t have pay the freight....and if you dealer isn't ordering a lot of parts from yamaha (cause there isn't really any major issues) then you have to wait until they have enough to order....
