Oh and if you have the exact amount of tension on center rear spring for handling and no more or less NO this heavier spring will not help your issue.

I have tried multiple rear torsion springs the stock and the two other stiffer OEM springs. The stiffer springs were way too stiff. I have also installed the Yamaha 4 way billet adjustment blocks to add more tension to the stock rear springs. Still had the dead rear end after riding rough trails.
This sled is great in perfect trail conditions but any amount of bumps and I'm done. I have to stand and ride.

I am working with someone local to figure out best route to go on these. Will let you know what we find. Hopefully real quick. Keep in touch. Does anyone know if the 2017 Sidewinder has the updated spring? I have a 2014 viper and saw a spring from a 2017 winder and wanted to see if that was the updated one. I do see they are different yamaha part numbers

If I remember correctly they have a 90/260 spring in them now vs the 135# spring on the trail models that the 2014/15 vipers have. That 90/260 was used in the 2012/13 cat snopro sleds..I own one..and it sucks with that spring. I since put a 160# spring in and handling and ride quality are greatly improved. That 90/260 is too soft on the start so it blows through the stroke on the shock and when you bottom it out you have a crazy stiff finish rate giving you a really harsh rebound. If you haven't already, send your rear shocks to cannondale27 to get revalved, single best thing you can do for one of the 2014/15 trail model sleds.

Well I ordered the 1704-736. Looks like it is on many of the arctic cat versions of my sled now. Guess I'll give it a try. Can try it out verses our other 2015 viper to see which one handles better. I'm happy with how these sleds handle on groomed trails. But when the snow is soft and chopped up from traffic the push and are a lot of work. The also don't ride nice on small whoops. 1 footers
May get one of these for my 2014 rtx ( 129 skid ) also. Need to confirm it does not already have one since I bought it used.. Thanks

^^^
I was looking on facebook last night and see that someone who used to be on here all the time sells a spring for $65. on there....
Is there a benefit to that spring over this one?

I can only guess that you are talking about Bill. That would be a completely different spring targeted at the XTX uncoupled skid models.

I like Bills spring on my RTX. Its straight rate and I swear I can feel the time lag between using the dual rate cat spring and the straight rate. When you punch it the straight responds instantly. Front gets light. Dual rate Cat slight hesitation. I like it. 3 turns on my 129" is what I settled on for setting preload. Anymore than that the small stutters were felt.

That is the info. I was looking for. The cat spring is cheaper, but with the improvement you mention, it is the way to go. Wanting to make this thing handle as good as possible. Might be sending the shocks to you next fall as well for a revalve, need to check with the original owner to see what has been done to them previously.
Thanks everyone!

So, do you like Bill's spring or the Cat spring better? My Sidewinder RTX SE needs a spring change. The FTS is bottoming out way to easily.
