Be careful to use the right torx bit... you can dress it on a wheel up het a nice bite... use a torch for a second or two on the head of the screw... then loosen.... gently clean shift fork.. magnets etc...upon reassembly verify the gasket is in properly and not pinched... add threadlocker to screws... might be missing a step since its been a few years

I agree that you should pull the cover to properly clean things. I also epoxied a strong magnet to the cover to help keep metal shavings in place. Also have magnets on my oil filter.

What about dropping and extended magnet in the oil to attract shavings?

I dont think you would get much if you could get the magnet in the hole. With a magnet on the case as the chain operates,it warmes the oil and stirs the oil. thats where the magnet can catch the particles. What about dropping and extended magnet in the oil to attract shavings?

I glued mine to the outside of the case. I put it low, forward on the case. Just use a fairly strong magnet.I thought of doing this also..but am concerned ....what if it broke loose would destroy the chaincase...

How do you empty it if there's no drain plug and you want to remove the cover?
How does the shop do it?

Most shops use evacuator for initial breakin change and remove cover/tank after that unless told to do otherwise. How do you empty it if there's no drain plug and you want to remove the cover?

For those that have had thier case off how is the top gear bushing holding up? I believe it’s a wider gear in Winder but not sure if bushing is? Never got more than 3000mi out of one in Viper. Warrantied it twice.

I'm having my AC dealer do a track swap for me. Is everything in the chain case the same as AC except for the actual gears?

I don't find taking the cover off and cleaning out the case any more difficult than it was on my 1200. Just remove the cover slowly and look carefully to see how everything goes back together. Sometimes guys get too excited and pull the cover quickly and things like washers and such end up falling and then your scrambling to find out where it goes. Take some pics so you can reference them if needed.

Then what, how do you proceed for future oil changes? Most shops use evacuator for initial breakin change and remove cover/tank after that unless told to do otherwise.
Remove cover/tank as one clean and inspect. Then what, how do you proceed for future oil changes?
Remember this is a new system personally I would chance evacuator for 500mi and definitely remove asst. after yearly.Remove cover/tank as one clean and inspect.
