Did you guys see the new Cat Catalyst?

Its too late. All the XC teams are running old Chassis. Old original spindles and all. Even Herfendahl. They would need 300 Catalyst to run any of the XC. SnoX sleds are so different and Modded from Consumer sleds it is really not even pertinent. XC is the ones we should be watching even though I am a big SnoX fan and supporter.
Yeah there was no way they were going to make a 300 build considering the quality of parts shown at haydays.

Snowx they can still get some durability testing though

This new Cat will have to have a wide body to house the 998T and Exhaust, maybe they already have one in the works, funny, through unspoken suggestions Yamaha is kinda hinting they may sell engines to Polaris, will it be the 998T or a new platform engine for Polaris, personally I can't see Polaris sourcing 4 stroke engines from Yamaha with the amount of 4 strokes they already have, maybe we will see the last of the 998T And see a new 4 Stroke twin cylinder turbo in the new Cat chassis, Question is will Yamaha build it.
They already have a twin. It's in the rmax-2

And Polaris is aiming for doo, if they can get Yamaha over than all the 998 owners will go where the engine goes.

Probably more blue riders than green riders these days.

BMW does something like this with the K1600 motorcycle. They actually use the starter motor and a drive cable through a worm gear. It would make for a very slow reverse on a sled.

Good to have slow speed reverse LOL. Did you know anti-lag will work in reverse on 998? LOL! 998's will probably go about 100 MPH in reverse. Nothing to limit them!

I think Yamaha will pull away from Cat, The new Cat Catalyst chassis clearly shows the direction Cat is in and Yamaha is not part of it, Yamaha will use the Pro cross for a bit longer, either Yamaha will just be a engine supplier with no more snowmobiles or they release a all new cutting edge sled chassis that is pure Yamaha to house the winder engine and Viper engine, and possibly bring back their own 2 strokes for the mountains and utility sleds, I would put money that Yamaha has talked about doing this, Heck, they maybe testing the new chassis now, with as tight lipped Yamaha is we wouldn't know.

Surely Cat can't be ignorant to the fact that when you put a Yamaha engine in a Cat, and Yamaha styles it along with the YAMAHA badge, it outsells the orange, green and purple version by 10-1.

I agree, but it seems everyone is not keeping their eye's on the ball, when Yamaha got in bed with Cat it was only till they got back on their feet with the the disaster that happened in Japan to the Yamaha plant, Yamaha Japan CEO's carefully made the decision to contract Cat to share their chassis and Yamaha shoe horn the Viper engine into the Pro cross and then the Winder engine which was shared, notice Cat doesn't offer the 7000 anymore, Yamaha Japan are very patient people and make small steps and follow through in their very careful decisions, to me... Yamaha has come to a crossroad, start building their own sleds again or just supply engines to the other sled OEM's, problem is that Most if not all other OEM's have their own 4 stroke and 2 stroke engines, many changes have been made with Yamaha, lot's of internal shifts, but these decisions of the direction and future of Yamaha sleds were made years ago, so we will see soon enough.

I sure hope you are right. Some of Yamahas moves the last 8 years have been downright shifty. I never expected that out of them but my Loyalty and conviction to Yamaha still is there. Maybe I am a idiot.

Yea and only the 998 in 1 Cat sled, the T cat. No other model gets this motor so……

Think they have it in the Riot 9000 for '23 as well. But, fair point.

Also, been thinking about this one.....more speculating I guess - What if Yamaha just buys the rights to the Pro-Cross chassis from Cat?? Similar to what Honda did with the Jet Ski hull/body from Cat. As Cat transitions out of the Pro-Cross chassis to the Catalyst platform, Yamaha could buy the rights and move the manufacturing jigs to Canada and continue to tweak and improve the platform that is actually still really good and a perfect fit for 4S engines. OK, so maybe more pipe dreaming than speculating as the cost to ramp up manufacturing would probably not ever be realized revenue wise.......but this is what we do, right? Lol.

What’s so wrong with what Yamaha is doing and has done?? Sorry guys I think the relationship is just fine. Cat HAS the chassis always has. YAMAHA has the engines always has. Just saying.

Right. Agreed. I don't think there's anything wrong with what they've done. Problem is, Cat is not going to continue to build both chassis. They will cease production of the Pro Cross chassis to build the Catalyst. No manufacturer continues the old chassis production in parallel with a new chassis forever and therefore will not have the Pro Cross for Yamaha to use.

The Cat chassis is lacking in the tunnel area.....
The suspension is good.
And the Yamaha engine is awesome!
