Drive axle bearing behind disc brake

Last year was poor but the UP had snow almost all winter. The beginning was great then the dreaded warm up and rain then ice. but I still managed to get about 2200 on the vipers and about 400 on the Pro S 800 before I sold it. miles were limited & # of trips were down due to working all winter.

Your not far from me next winter I'm always heading north and plenty of room in the hauler!

My buddy has 11000 mi on his 2012 Cat Turbo so some ride big miles. I also noticed that Polaris also uses clips to hold everything together on driveshaft. They all just need to hit the numbers machining. The tolerances needed are all in the books for probably a hundred years. No magic just have to hit the numbers.

That would be great, I too have enclosed hauler. Hopefully we can get together on some trips and make the drive easier and more fun.

Put 8 light dimples in shaft eyeballed evenly around. Supporting the shaft close to center to keep stress of opposite side bearing.

Cleaned bearing with thinner then WD lightly blowing it out with air. Was no crunchy was still nice and smooth but obviously got some water in last season.

Put it back on. Did have to tap it on using plastic hammer on disc. So tighter than before. That's good.

I polished up shaft where rear seal contacts and added a bit of grease for that seal. Rest of shaft for bearing I left dry since I think rust is our friend there. Since it probably helps keep bearing turning. Some may advise just replacing bearing. Your call. It felt good and fit right yet so I did not.

5300 miles. Shaft is wore beyond fixing.
First trip of the year is coming up and I can't see the dealer helping me out.

Has anyone had luck machining a sleeve to fit over the shaft ?

Splines are to big to fit a sleeve to the wore dia. Weld would be only option but better off just getting new. Get whole assembly including drivers.

I dont mean this as an insult to you, but its problems like this that cause me to now do all my service at the end of the sled season. then the sled is ready to go for the next season.
I used to do all my maintenance in the fall, but backordered parts would always create issues for me.
Just my opinion, but its gonna be cheaper easier and faster just to buy a whole new driveshaft assembly

Yup i have the same problem. Fixing so much shitt for other people i never get to mine.
Thats another reason i got into doing it at seasons end.
Glad to hear warranty is covering it. Thats awsome news. Hope it will be fixed in time for your trip.

I installed a new bearing there this year. I had a little bit of play so i put some green loctite on the shaft. Should make it a little better.

Loctite works well. Too well. I had a heck of a time getting it off after using green loctite. Had to use a puller on Caliper after splitting it and removing disc.
