Driveshaft toast bearing seems OK......

I also have one shaft thats a good fit and a buddy has 9000mi on his without wear. Its the luck of the draw.

Funny because my new shaft and bearing was a very tight #%^ fit. I had to really put some elbow grease into it. No way would mine slid on and off. Probably because they are both new? Could they have changed the shaft thickness? Or ?
They just vary all over the place Jon. Terrible quality control. Might even be China crap.

It is frustrating knowing we paid a-lot for these sleds. And they are very aware of the problems...

I have 4 year warranty on my sled but still spent extra on the following

Shaft wedge
Belly pan protector
Rad hose protectors
Chaincase protector
Just did the rivnuts as per Rockerdan (thank you),

I should look into the chaincase fix

With the mileage i do and the distances, i still have to get it towed if something was to happen

So it turns out Yamaha is on back order with the driveshafts. Does anyone know of aftermarket ones. I found Black Diamond Extreme, but wanted to see if anyone used them or had other recommendations.

Yup. When I stopped by my Cat dealer last week, when he looked at back-orders for trackshaft, there were still over 1,500 back-ordered across the whole USA! Might have to consider getting yours fixed (turned- welded-turned). Get a new bearing while you're at it and assemble using BOP wedge (and even some green loctite). If you don't do something different to alter what is going on with this OEM design, it will happen again and again. Just putting in new OE bearing and shaft will not keep it from happening again. Right now, seems like BOP wedge is best chance we have. People have tried dimpling, loctite, set screws and none of that seems to be a permanent fix.

I was going to get the BOP when they put the new track shaft in, but they dont have one and it sounds like winter will be over before I can get one. I would rather not do the work myself since I paid for a warranty, but I will if I have to.

I wonder if you had the shaft welded and turned to a size a few thou. GREATER than the bearing inner diameter. Then during install warm the bearing to 200 degrees and slide it on. For removal, cool the inside of the shaft with some Freon or dust buster and remove.

If local to me I do have one shaft that BOP wedge still tightens to bearing but it would be a borrow or trade deal. In person. I have 5 buddies on ProCross chassis and we try to keep spare parts among ourselves to keep riding in these situations. FYI I ordered complete 2019 800 introvert shaft and drivers. That’s also backordered! So even shafts from 2st sleds are being used for everything else.

Same shaft.

I just put in the BDX driveshaft. Only one ride 170 miles, no problems. Bearing fits tight and I still used the BOP wedge cause I already bought it in preparation of OEM driveshaft. I bought the steel one from hurricane because I heard someone broke the aluminum one

Hows the drive shaft holding up?
