Excell Cold Air Intake and Exhaust

No by all means. Not saying I am intending to do the ignition module and I never will but I hate the rev limiter alot. I have never seen a motor that hit the rev limiter while still making power. Forewarning though. PowerCommander requires your sled serial number for this mod. I dont like that. Supposedly just for records. Seems very infringing to me and it is no ones business whether I have it on my sled or not unless I choose to tell them. Wondering if Yamaha would ever get these Vins. No guarantee so as long as I am under warranty the module I purchase I am saying I am just looking at it! I feel if motor goes they should have to prove it was because of a mod to deny warranty. Just like oil.

How are you liking this kit cannondale? I have been waiting for the evolution kit to come out but still no updates so I am considering this kit, seems like a reasonable price for 22 more hp! How long did it take to install?

I like it alot. Probably two hrs or so install. Results are on first page. Clutching in progress right now.

That can looks a lot like my Hindle.

Thanks for the nice writeup. I really like the look of their intake.

You mean like this?

I will probably add a Evo header soon also.

Is there anything left to gain in the header? From what I've seen the can and intake are the real gainers. Excell had a header. Looks like they shelved it.

As for Evo I've seen a lot of hype and empty promises, mis stated facts and no dyno plots. Maybe they'll come through in the end, but for now the reflash is vaporware.

Please elaborate on the air intake mod. Specifically what is included and what mods (if any) are made to the airbox. More pictures would be great.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I should have taken pics of install but Excell did already. The instructions are very good. They provide templates for the holes you need to cut in the airbox. When done it looks as good or better than factory installed. I believe Excell has instructions on their website. Only issue I had was the block off piece for the stock hole. I cleaned my airbox well but the blockoff would not stick. Ended up using a heated screwdriver and "welding" the piece to the airbox. Dont want that piece falling off.

Thanks! it looks very nice but the price seems a bit high IMO for a plastic snorkel and a block off plate. I realize that they need to recoup the time and expense of development and testing plus the mold for the snorkel, but I would need to know how much HP is gained and at what RPM along with dyno results to back it up before dropping that much coin.

That exhaust looks very nice as well and it sure sounds sweet on the video!

I am really conflicted about spending any money on an intake or exhaust when I am not sure yet if I will be adding a turbo which will come with its own different intake and exhaust. For now I will get some miles on it stock to break it in and to establish a baseline on the current performance before deciding what to do.

As always I really appreciate your help and your sharing of your knowledge and experience!

Dave you go ahead and spend that money on ad ons. Than next year when you buy that turbo I will help you recupe some of that money you spent on your mods. Deal?

Thanks! I will let you know what I decide to do. If my year end bonus check is big enough I may pull the trigger on the turbo right away!

Back to the topic at hand. Does anybody know what the proven HP gains are for the Excell intake and the exhaust?
