Exhaust Donuts & Y Pipes....Step by step

I picked up four of these yesterday at the dealer. From what I understand the new part number (99999-03989-00) is the same donut, but includes the allen screw that everyone seems to be stripping when trying to remove.
Price was $20.99CDN each for reference.

Cheers,

Dale

Had to give my dealer the new part number and they had to enter it into their
system so that they could order them. Any idea what the difference is? Hope
they last longer than the old ones.

Part# 99999-03989-00 replaces 8FA-14623-00-00

My dealer was unaware here in Duluth, so be sure to bring the new part #. The fiches do not reflect the new part # either. But there is such a part.

Exhaust Y pipe replacement

Does anyone have any tricks for reinstalling the y pipes into the exhaust pipe.
The fit is very very tight and I can see that it will be very difficult to get them assembled once they are put back into the sled.
Thank you.

I had same issue. Sand down y pipe ends then use dremel to lightly sand down female end of exhaust pipe. Then give the muffler a few bops twards the motercw ruber mallet

Y pipe replacement

I got the new y pipes and the muffler installed in the sled. I bolted down the exhaust in the rear and used a rachet strap from the y pipe to the back of the sled to draw the y pipes into the exhaust. I work very well.

I dropped one of the 8 bolts that hold the flexpipes to the motor head while attempting to screw it back in place. I heard it hit a metal bottom but I can't find it. Anyone have an idea of how I can get it out from below the motor/exhaust outlets? Or should I just forget about finding it and leave the bolt it where it is? :o|

Donuts & Labor covered by Yamaha

Just took my 2007 Apex to the dealer to have the exhaust donuts replaced. Even though my one year warranty (sled purchased as leftover in October 2009) had ended, Yamaha has to honor a 30 month warranty from the date of purchase as part of an agreement with the EPA. It's an emissions warranty. Goes to show you...always ask if it's covered. And don't take the dealers word as gospel. Called my local dealer and they said Yami told them it wasn't covered. Called the dealer I bought from and they contacted Yami and were told parts & labor were covered.

Bought my sled just before last season. Tore my sled down to check/replace the donuts. Found the donuts not bad but have a cracked left side y-pipe flange. Also found the the allen screw holding the right y-pipe stripped before I touched it. Have yet to get either of those allen bolts out.

From where are the SS y-pipes available?

Trying to change my y-pipes on my 07 Attack, I have losened the exhaust clamps at back of y-pipes but still cant get the y-pipe seperated from the exhaust pipe. Unbolted exhaust box and tried yanking but wont seperate. This is together super tight. Any suggestions or tricks to seperate the y-pipes from the exhaust pipe at the clamp joint would be appreciated. Help.

Did you take the bolt out that holds the Y pipe to the tunnel?? Under the rubber plugs.

Having a difficult time removing old y pipes from exhaust pipe. They are very very tight together. Any good ideas about how to seperate. As you can see I have loosened the clamps, unbolted the muffler, and the flex pipes are removed. Just need help to seperate the pipe clamp joint. Any experience ideas?

And yes I have taken out the bolt that holds the y pipe to the tunnel under the rubber plugs.

where is the silencer?

The Silencer is the back part in that picture, its a long tubes that go into the rear can and exit our the rear, that entire part need to be removed to get the Y pipes out.
