Full season with 4300kms and Im still on the original belt, all I added was the Thunder Helix and orange spring and OSP belt adjuster.
Drove the sled very sensible this season, did Gaspe 16ookms lots of long pulls.
I kept my clutches clean after each ride, blow them out, brake cleaner that's my ritual.
Love the sled and how smooth she pulls.
Just washed, wax, grease and Krown undercoated the suspension and front A arms so it's going away.
We did Swisha to Val D'Or last weekend, boys there is 5 feet of snow so head north and run to Val D'Or.

2300 miles so far on original belt. all stock. literally haven't had the panel off since new. like you I drive sensibly. only seen triple digits a few times for short periods. I don't do the voom voom voom at the pumps and what not, which I have never understood, of course my muffler is stock, so it wouldn't be cool anyway. I have used reverse maybe a dozen times and don't feel the need to back in to a spot at the pub to look cool. I always take off easy and never run hard until a few miles of warm up. the lack of engine braking and downshifting is very obvious. It likes to squeal taking off or returning to throttle after quick slow down. I plan to maybe do a spring and or helix for that. for now if I happen to brake, I go back into it easy. actually I avoid braking or stopping at all.
I really don't like all the slack in the belt. I believe it is that way for the stupid push button reverse. I have experience dealing with that on the phazers, which stock required you to get off and lift rear end to shift until you shim more slack in. I plan to look into shimming or whatever to tighten the belt and avoid reverse as I do anyway. I like to go forward and park and maneuver in a manner that avoids reverse. with my apex and nytro I put them in reverse before starting to get them out of trailer etc.
I have been a snowmobile mechanic my whole life and most belt issues I believe are the result of that one time someone gets stuck or tries to inch into the trailer etc. a very minor spot in the belt could catch up with it 1000 miles later. even just letting someone try your sled, they could put a spot in it without you even knowing. "most" sleds I see down here have damaged belts that they have been using for multiple seasons. the lack of experience or understanding leads to it. then one day when conditions are good and they get to open it up and "boom" I have seen many people come here to pick their sled up and flat spot the belt loading it, right after my speech... be good to your belt and it will be good to you.

2017 LTX-LE with 2900 miles on original belt. I ride 95% trails and a few lakes. No modifications to the sled the only thing I’ve done is belt deflection adjustments with shims on the secondary clutch.

I also have 2800 miles on my original belt and it looks new. I have never checked my clutch alignment or off set because I'm not having issues. I also ride sensibly like others have posted even though when I get the chance I like to let it rip.

With respect, I would have to ride with you to compare riding speed/style. I have no doubt I could extend the life of my belt substantially by adjusting my riding style/speed. I have met many guys over the years who say they ride hard and fast. But when I finally get the chance to ride with them I find out that nothing could be farther from the truth.Full season with 4300kms and Im still on the original belt, all I added was the Thunder Helix and orange spring and OSP belt adjuster.

I am by no means disappointed with my belt life considering the high power of this machine and the low price of this belt. A neighbour of mine has an 850 and he blew 2 belts also with less miles. My first belt blew at 123mph, the second while showing 119mph.

Great post to show not ALL or even most/many Sidewinders are constantly blowing belts
I suspect it’s something subtle mechanical and variable as some or even most of the guys know to be careful not to burn the belt in slow /engagement situations and to let it warm up a few miles before hitting it hard and long.
Plus we all know numbskulls who abuse their equipment and seem to get bye with it.

I measured my buddies sled with 240R tune in it this weekend at 60mm. He has 2000 miles on orig 8JP. We even found a spot on the belt where it had worn when track must have been froze down.
I had 1560 miles on my first belt set at 60mm, 840 miles stock, 720 miles on 240 tune before first one let go, then had 2 more belts go in 600 miles on the 290 tune. Think I may drop down to stock muffler tune and just run that on the trail. This belt blowing is getting old. IMO big power tunes are taking the belts out. Up there over 250 or 260 real HP and any type of aggressive riding is eating up belts. Have another bud with 1100 miles on stock muffler tune, not sure what the offset is as we have not checked it, just know it has 2 washers behind driven he says.

There is a thread on this. It’s currently back on page 5. Fewer than 20 votes almost 50/50 but more blown belts with shorter C-C. Not sure you can take too much from that much dataCan those that know post offsets on non belt blowers, thanks guys

I have 2200 miles on my 2017 LTX LE and on my original belt no issues what so ever with mine!! I've been running it with the Thunder product Big Venom clutch kit and 33/35 helix and Orange secondary spring set at 3-3 for the last 1200 miles with no issues. I also have the OSP belt adjuster since new and have ran 8dn since new also.
