Speaking of speed, I have a Garmin pocket unit that I use always while sleddin. It will give me a the max speed obtained during a "run". Great for clutch tuning and getting real (no track spin) MPH. Backtrack feature great too for those "how do get back" moments.

Please post your GPS speed numbers. Also include your gearing numbers too.

81mph MPH, 88mph dream-o-meter and the clutching was fully shifted out as the RPMs started to climb above 11,300rpm the last few MPH. This is a MTX with a 19t which is equivalent to 17t on a short track (due to different track drivers)

What is that video supposed to be, or mean? Was it on a stand? It sure the heck wasn't climbing that fast on a lake, lol ! Pretty impressive the track didn't explode anyway.
Remember those speedos and tachs? On the bars so you could see them and holy crap that was huge! Too bad they were about the diameter of a quarter.

There are alot of old 2st Phazers out there that would kick our butts in a race.Buddy had one with PSI porting,Aaen pipe,Picked and a widening kit. That thing was dang fast.

My brothers was pretty much full mod and back in the day would hang right with 600 Indys, which was un- heard of! I remember his speedo well over a 100, i don't care how far it was off, that's still fast for a 485 fan! BUT, it's a 2 stroke, now a 250 Enticer should be equal to our 500 four strokes.
Lots of sleepers out there, and always having 440s, i've owned a few of them.

Ya, its pretty close. My 90' with just an Aaen pipe will out run my 09' on the top end by a good 10mph, but that's also got the awsome 1/2" bar track too that takes hardly any hp to spin. Even my sisters stock 93' will run ski to ski with my 09' on top end. That said, the 09' DESTROYS the old Phazer II from 0-75mph, even my Aaen piped one looses out until 75mph.

Yup, real small tracks. Remember buying .750" studs? lol. I bet i still have boxes of them around. I still have a box of "giant" 1" steel picks for ice racing, lol.
Now days i have to ask the dealer, i don't even know what size is what anymore.
I had 4 old school Phazers, and back in the day they were cool, but i'll take my new one.

Had an Outlaw too. Wish the picture was better. My sister is going to 'scan' them or somethin?

You made my point. At 56hp, the 485 fan cooled motor needed lots of help. Being fan cooled meant that as soon as you made more power, it came with heat. Heat to a fan cooled motor meant that you had to drown it with fuel in order to prevent detonation------The 485 evil nemise.

Just poking fun at stock appearing PZ485 Phazers that made claims to 90 to 100 mph. All in good fun.

My original 85 Phazer was one notch up on Tim's Outlaw Phazer. ;):D
Yes, Tim supplied many parts. I was one of the first to have the wide kit. The side panels were hand laid glass work. I will see if I have any old pics of the pocket rocket. I had track slide lubricators on the sled for racing on glare ice. Welded on stud plates to the track clips. Maximum traction for a light sled.

Ditto the fuel hog with heat
