Guys - I'm having trouble finding a helmet that fits - I'm about a 7 5/8 and am having no luck. I drive an '07 Apex RTX so I'd love a black one with a heated visor. So far, I've checked my local dealer and Shadetree and have had no luck.
Also, can snowmobile helmets be painted? I know you're not supposed to, but can you do it without compromising the helmet?

Go with a Skidoo Modular 2 in size 3XL. Get the available heated shield and you're good to go.

I'm a little hesitant to buy through Ebay simply because a 2 or 3XL varies dramatically from manufacturer to manufacturer. The skidoo modular sounds okay but since my trusty steed is an Apex RTX, I don't want a black and gold skidoo helmet. Do they come plain black with no skidoo on them?
Anyone ever tried to paint a helmet? Is it a no-no?

You can get the Ski-doo Modular2 in all black (flat or gloss). It will have two Ski-doo emblems on the helmet - one in front, the other in back. Both are easily removable, held in place by double sided tape. I switched to that helmet and couldn't be happier.

B I'm about the same size and I've had 2XL FXR and Fox V3. The FXR just didn't work. The Fox V3 went on great and fit perfect but I then needed help to get the damn thing off.
I'm now in a 2XL BV2S that is working perfectly. Go to a doo dealer and try one on and they order the right size on ebay. Spendy but damn nice so far.
