Hesitation with Excell Exhaust

Sounds like you need more fuel.... These sleds are lean on the bottom, so with a freeer flowing exhaust, you would probably need more fuel..

These sleds are lean on the bottom end in stock form and could use more fuel. When I installed my excell without the fuel controller, it would only pop a bit at lower operating RPMS until the motor was warm. Then it was just fine. You dont need the fuel controller to run the exhaust, it works just great witout it and is an excellent quality product. I think the stockers have the same popping its just you dont hear it like you would with an aftermarket exhaust. And again, mine was only when the motor wasnt completely warmed up...BBY

Could someone send me or post the link to the excel exhaust?

Thank You In Advance.

If I can chime in, as I have just installed the 10's, and I am getting the same popping, burbling sound with hard starting and hesitation,...and I have the gauge pod and fuel accelerator set and running flawlessly with stock 9EB's. I am going back to them. Heard too many foul problems with the 10's, and I even made sure the gap was correct. My .02

I know there are more having fouling problems.....Might want to try the stock plugs first before changing a lot of things. Just trying to help.

I think some people do not let the sled warm up enough before trying to accelerate hard. It is important to get the water temp & oil temp up or you will see a hesitation!

Also on the CR10EK spark plugs in an Apex, we have put over 2500 miles on the same set now from temps down to -35*F and up to 108*F last summer and have never fouled one nor noticed any hard starting. If you do alot of starting & stopping without letting the sled warm up fully you will foul even the stock plugs.

I recently installed an Excell Exhaust. When I nail it at lower RPM's it hesitates or stumbles, and also makes a popping sound. I also have the CR10EK plugs. I tried adding fuel using the procedure with grounding the pale green wire and changed the adjustment on the display. I have it bumped up to +12 on each cylinder and still have the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can you adjust the fuel with the stock ecu and display? or are you talking about a controller?

Hi Guy's we haven't tested any exhaust on a stk engine only our built engine's. The Boondocker is the only Fuel controller that we have been happy with but I bet even a TFI would do the trick on a stk engine with exhaust.
The fuel controllers have an accelerator mode so you can add enough fuel for acceleration without making it too rich on the low and mid to drive.

TFI is "BOSS NOSS" version of fuel acclerator made by Dobeck Performance. Hauck is manufactured by them as well... They both appear to be identical.

Interesting, hmm? :rocks:

I only noticed the heitstion and popping after gutting my airbox as well. I have the 10's, and was having a problem last season with it popping at full throttle as well. I purchased a PCIII from my dealer, but only learned they don't have any maps available online.
My recommendation is to buy one from Alan Ulmer, tell him what you have done to your sled, and I think he'll load a map on it for you that should solve your problems? Allan, I need a map!!?

I still have the first set of cr10ek's from my 04 warrior. Ran them in my 06 Apex for 2 years and now I'm putting them in another Apex. They have 6,000 miles on them and I have never fouled one. I also have a high flow light weight exhaust and never had starting problems but at 10,000 ft I do have to add fuel with the stock gauge. Around 10-15 is where I run it. Eric
