If you put two sleds side by side with 35 and 55 at night it is very easy to see the difference.
So far we have installed the 55 Watt kits in, and ridden thousands of trouble free miles on,
2004, 2005 RX1, and Warriors
2007, 2009 Phazer
2006,2007,2008, 2010 and 2011 Apex (mostly Attaks)
2008, 2009 Venture
2009 Vector
2008, 2009 Nytros.
So no worries on the 55Watt kits on any of those.

Good to know. I think the heat issue with 55 watts is more common on fog light applications.
I think a couple of wax candles would have been better than my stock lights! These hid's are insanely bright!

Where's the best place to mount the ballasts and harness? And be able to take off the hood without unplugging everything.

I mounted mine under the hood (zip tied to it) so they come off with the hood.

I emailed SledStart with the same question. I have the kit on my 11 Vector, and it is awesome. It was truly plug and play... the color is perfect... and my headlight outshines the guy in front of me. Anyway, the answer was no, there is a difference in the housing and it won't fit. I'd suspect you have the same issue. But, you can email them and ask. He replied VERY quickly.does anyone know if the Sledstart Nytro kit will fit in my New SR VIper?? shame to spend another 200 when i have a sled with them already thats going up for sale...

I have the Sled Start HID kit on my '07 Apex that I will swap over to a new Viper if I decide to trade it in this year. Now that I have experienced HID lights I will never own a sled without them.
Kurt from Sled Start is a TY advertiser and has a great product and customer service just like Rock. Both Kurt & Rock are great guys to do business with.

Are most of you guys running the 35 watt ballast? Will the 55 watt ballast be that much brighter? I was checking out the DDM Tuning website, but wasn't sure if I should go with the 35 or 55 watt ballast. Does anyone have any pictures of how you mounted your ballast??

Just ordered some from Rockmeister, $175 shipped to Canada. Said to be plug & play. Will report when I receive/install!

The 55W is noticeably brighter at night. The DDM ballasts 35w/55w are the same size.

I will be trading my Apex for a Viper this week. I was planning on moving my Sled Start HID's to the Viper but the Apex and Viper HID's are not interchangeable. I will be ordering a new HID kit for the Viper. After having HID's on my Apex I will never own a sled without them.

We added LED instead of HID to the XTX SE to try it out and i am very pleased they are so bright. When you line up the 2 vipers next to each other LED and Stock there is a huge difference, the stock viper looks like its dim or running on a weak battery when compared to a LED. There does not seam to be much difference between Low and High beam but I can live with that.
Pros - a lot brighter, use less power , generates less heat, there are cheap, they fit very well with no mods.
Cons - not much of a low beam. Probably not as bright as a HID but huge improvement over stock

Which LED did you use? When we looked at them last year they didn't have even half the lumen output of the HID's. I will go to "bulb only" LED's as soon as I find a set that is as bright as the HID's. It will make install so much easier.
I added a LED driving lite to my viper for the close in bumps and it works good up to 50' or so but doesn't compare to the 55w HID's.

Just picked them up on amazon . We just wanted something better then stock bulbs and cheaper then HID because we dont ride a lot at night, maybe 10% just working our way back home after a ride. If most of your riding is at night I would go with maximum Lumens HID also.

Well I finally installed my HID'S and everything went good, they sure are bright. One thing I was wondering is when I give my sled a little gas I noticed the light output vibrates a bit. Is everyones like this? My retainer rings that hold the bulbs in place are real tight, and the headlight housing seems tight, so I don't if its just normal for them to kind of bounce like that from the vibrations from the sled.
