I don't know what it should read but remember the computer may hold the throttle bodies at a lower percentage till a certain RPM. The R6 is 80 percent at WOT till 8500 rpm. Helps with smoother acceleration. Just a thought.
I also just checked mine that has had intermittent starting frustrations and it reads the same as cannondale

Interesting thread here... I have a Viper RTX with 800 miles on it. The first time I took the sled out, put 48 miles on it and went in for lunch... Came out about an hour later and it wouldn't start. Barely opened throttle and it fired right up but did flash 1338 code. It has done it a couple times since but the simple solution (until Yammy figures it out) is put on parking brake and crack the throttle ever so slightly... It will start right up and you won't be embarrassed by your brand new sled not starting. Obviously only do this if it doesn't start like it should.
I have talked to several other Viper owners and every single one of them has had this issue.

Too many other past yammys to list

Ok, we run at 9k to 12k altitude. What alt are problem machines?

I'm at 1300 feet. And can get mine to repeat the problem like clockwork.

A friend emailed me this:
I read this about an Arctic Cat with a Big Bore kit and it made me think of your Yamaha. The owner was experiencing starting issues on warm restarts that seemed to be cured by moving the air temp sensor in the airbox. It seems on after shutting off the motor, the air in the airbox warms up from the heat of the motor and exhaust which warms the air temp sensor to lean the fuel injection. As you crank the engine, cold air is pulled into the airbox but the mixture is too lean. Maybe the sensor is too slow to react or is picking up an unusual amount of heat from something close by.

Wow!!! That is probably the first conclusion that actually makes sense. I will look at mine tonight and see if I can relocate it.

The MCX kit does not keep the air temp sensor in the airbox, we have tried re locating it in a few different spots with no luck.

Doesn't epxplain the ones like ours that work whether it is at or above freezing or 5 below 0 it always starts. Having to crack the throttle to get it to start warm usually indicates a RICH condition. Like when you tak a carb sled up to high altitude and have to crack the throttle a bit to get it to start.

Mine just started to get lazy on warm starts and very intermittent.
When I had trouble I cycled the key 4 times in 3 second bursts.
On the 4th try it lit super fast.
That same day, stopped for lunch, came back out, expected some trouble, but it started right up first try.
