Now that many people have many miles on...
How's the Vipers doing for reliability, mpg, & the chaincase issues all figured out and over?
How about top speed on groomed trail?
Can you run 80-90 all day on RR beds without beating it to death?

:drink:

2400 Miles and sled has never seen the dealer since pick up. I have changed chain case oil one time at 700 miles and keep tension a quarter turn back from finger tight. No reverse issues only the hard warm start problem to deal with but it always fires. My top speed all year is 97 on the recall but 90 seems to be the evreyday average groomed trail top speed without having miles to hold it down. All in all blown away with how good the sled is. last 13 sleds were Polaris. I did tighten every clamp and protect tight spots in wires at rub places etc as I always do when I go over a new sled. Still on first belt too.

Viper XTX, 1,2XX miles, can run 93-98 on freshly groomed trail and soft snow. Off trail is a BLAST! No issues with anything except trying to figure out where to ride ;)

Fuel milage is better than my Nytro by a 1/4 gallon everytime we fill up. The grips get nice and hot! Easy low/high setting driving down the trail. Hyfax shows a little wear right behind the 1st set of wheels but nothing to worry about.

Changed oil at 600 miles and checked chain tension when new, then again during oil change. Hose clamps tightned when new, then at oil change. No problems.

Sled rails in the corners, rides like a couch when on trail, takes the big holes and jumps like a pro and looks as mean as it goes :)

love it

I cant stop staring at my Viper when its in the backyard. Thats just the beginning other ppl cant stop staring either. Been on every riding conditions out there. Next day the guys I ride with cant even walk they are so stiff. I am so suprised how comftorble of a ride it is. Never been sore yet. Mileage is good I cant get enough ride time. Every weekend Iam going somewhere to ride. Its such a addiction that I have never experienced from my other sleds. Reliabilty I have had zero issues except one time had the low idle syndrom. Turn key off waited a few minutes and no problems since. Ty keeps me ahead of the problems before it happens. This sled is getting stronger and stronger pulls harder at 70 and 80 now. :sled1: No regrets at all.

1100 miles so far.

Been a great sled.

Feels so lite and nimble, incredibly easy steering. Takes the bumps great. Great off trail performance.

Installed 6.9 Pilot skis, 1/2" toe out. Virtually zero darting and floats great in the deep snow.

Saw 102 mph on a hard pack road. Probably would of seen 105 but had to start slowing down.
15 mpg average.

Only issues so far:
Chain was 3 turns loose at 500 miles. Checked twice since then. Chain tension has been good.
Had the hot restart issue 3 times. But sled always started on the third key cycle.
Changed the oil at 600 miles. A bit of a mess but the operator was in a learning curve.
Knows what to do better next time.

1250 miles so far, will probably have 2000 by the end of season. Love the engine and fuel range/economy. Hate the ride quality, if yamaha won't step up in suspension department I'll be switching brands.

;)!

have 1700 on so far. tightened chain case at 400 mi and at 1000. at 1600 it didnt need tightening. bought some new carbides and now it is on rails. i was playing with the rear suspension and loosened the coil spring. BAD IDEA. the sled steered so hard and made the back so loose and felt like it had more roll. rode it for 10 miles like that for a test run and i was more sore than a 200 mile ride with the old setup. tightened it back up to 3/4 or more and now it is on rails and no wash in the rear also eliminated the tippy aspect. pulled the transfer blocks out at 300 mi and they are never going back in. that was the best thing i did to make it hook up. also added 4 wheels to the skid and picked up midrange and top end another good $120 investment. no more slide drag. love this sled. sits in the shed now while i wait for my wife's water to break. hope to still hit 2000 this year.

Still loving mine. Have about 700 miles on it, checked chain at 300 and changed oil at 500. Hooks up and carries the skis about 4 inches out of the hole and rides great. My back has not felt so good after riding for a long time. I came off an 01 SXR so its a big improvement for me.

Next year I'm thinking new skis and a couple more inch riser, tunnel pack and some extra wheels for the skid. Maybe clip the track too, I would like to get a little more top end out of it. So far I haven't felt the need for studs, but we have had lots of snow this year.

Best sled I've owned, love the ride ,factory suspenion works awesome for me. I have 2000 Kms on it and it just keeping getting faster. Motor is the amazing. Easy to service if you know what you are doing. Waiting to buy my wife a 2015 SR VIPER. :yam:

XtX Have 800 miles. Chain was loose by 70 miles. Tighten once and been check three times never moved. Oiled change at 500 miles. Coolant reservoir slowly goes down. One clamp was slightly loose on top, but did not dig to the lower hoses to fix yet.

Mine has floats, I took a day, with the help of this forum and wow what a little less air will do.

Did not like the stock skies. Aftermarket fixed darting, steering effort and pushing. Not that it had much to begin with except the darting. But sense a major surgery I needed all of them to go away.

So all in all, love the sled!

Do you know someone else that has one that you could take for a spin? Something has to be wrong with that thing, ride quality and handling is one of the things I love about mine coming off a Nytro RTX. Something seems fishy, has to be something wrong.

Where did you add the 4 wheels. Thinking of doing the same. Thanks

I was just going to say the same thing....I do know Cannondale27 (Steve) is working on a different valving to make it ride better. I sit on my XTX and have 2 inches of movement.

there is two spots on the ltx to put them in the middle. i put them in the farther back holes. the other two wheels i put right infront of the rear wheels. both sets i put on the outside.
