Old thread but does anyone have any tips to getting the jack shaft back into a new bearing on the chaincase side? I got it flush with the sleeve/ nut but I’m hitting the shaft harder then I’d like to while holding pressure on the bearing

I'm not sure this would be applicable to your setup but what has worked for me is to put the jack shaft in the freezer (usually overnight but maybe a couple of hours might work) and then use a heat gun to carefully heat the inner race of the bearing and it will slide on like butter without applying any force. Mine literally dropped into place.
It should slide right in on chaincase side. Loose fit. Maybe brake side isn’t in spar all the way?

Ya I thought of that while I was giving it some love taps. If I can get it back out I will have to give it a shotI'm not sure this would be applicable to your setup but what has worked for me is to put the jack shaft in the freezer (usually overnight but maybe a couple of hours might work) and then use a heat gun to carefully heat the inner race of the bearing and it will slide on like butter without applying any force. i thought it should be a somewhat of a loose fit with that sleeve and nut. I don’t want to take that nut off in case that sleeve expands and I can’t get it to start againIt should slide right in on chaincase side. Loose fit. Maybe brake side isn’t in spar all the way?
As long as you are sure the brake side Jackshaft bearing is all the way in spar then just have the nut loose on case side and push sleeve in. Maybe the sleeve got pushed in when Jackshaft was put in. Give the sleeve a tap with hammer with nut install. Nut should go all the way back in to bearing.Ya I thought of that while I was giving it some love taps.
